I bought this for my 9 year old granddaughter. I was excited to see all the fun activities and things to make that were included. She likes the book, too, and is eager to try lots of new things!

A winner,
This review is from: The Pocket Daring Book for Girls: Things to Do (Hardcover)
I checked out the large book from the library and gave it to my grandaughter to see how she liked it. She did! But it's a huge book and it's filled with alot of history. I decided to invest in this pocket version, which is the majority of hands on activities from the book. It's quite nice.
Two disappointments were that it does not include the Sun Saluation poses or the Karate poses that my grandaughter enjoyed trying. Maybe I can find those online and include them as inserts. Overall, it's a winner!

Julia Reviews for Her Granddaddy,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Pocket Daring Book for Girls: Things to Do (Hardcover)
These are the responses of my 12-year-old granddaughter during a hurried trip to catch a plane. Julia is very smart and social. She went through the book but has not read it fully.
She finds good things in it, especially in the Things to Do selections, but on the whole thinks it more suitable for younger girls, such as her 10-year old cousin (also bright but much less mature). It wouldn't do for her and her group; they would find it below their standard. Also, she found it old-fashioned (we mentioned the style may be deliberate). In sum, a great book for younger girls. On that basis she would give it four stars

Do You Need To Get This Book? III,

That's a fair question if you already have or plan to get The Daring Book for Girls because 30 of the items in this book are also found in the big blue book. (Interestingly, there is no overlap with anything in The Double-Daring Book for Girls.)
The 11 following items are the only ones unique to this book: Page 5, "Make Your Own Zip Line", for zipping between trees in your own backyard. Page 18, "How to Run Faster". Page 35, "How to Skateboard". Page 66, "Drawing a Face". Page 85, How to "Fry an Egg on the Sidewalk". (Hint: Unless you live on the lip of a bubbling volcano, chances are you really can't because it never actually gets hot enough, but there are a few tricks and tips that can make sidewalk egg-frying interesting, if not exactly edible.) Page 94, "How to Look at a Leaf", expanded from the "Hiking" item in the big blue book. Page 104, How to perform the "Tinikling (Bamboo Dance)", something you might have seen performed before in movies or on television. Page 113, "How to Make a Pillowcase Skirt". Page 126, "Tracking Animals"", expanded from the "Hiking" item in the big blue book. Page 143, "Make a Homemade Geyser" using Mentos Mint Candy, 1.32-Ounce Rolls and diet soda. Page 207, "Miscellanea", skips some from and adds some to those listed in the "Miscellanea" item in the big blue book. In addition many of the items have different illustrations. Note: Anyone who has been reluctant to purchase the big blue book because as I and a number of reviewers have noted, it includes a handful of truly questionable activities, which devout Christians will consider dabbling with the occult, and which others may question because in the absence of supernatural powers they are arguably a big fat waste of time, have another reason for choosing to purchase this book. In what IMHO cannot possibly be a coincidence ALL of the offending items have been left out of this book. Would that the authors and the publisher had had the wisdom to leave them out of the big blue book. I bought 2 of these for my nieces for Christmas and they loved it. Every girl ought to have one of these, especially tween girls. It's filled with wholesome fun for girls as well as stuff that they can do with their families. I highly recommend this book.
