1.0 out of 5 stars If you have the first edition, there's no need to buy the second!
I liked the first edition, eventhough there were a lot of images that were repeated over and over again(I would give it 4 stars- there are no other books like this that shows all the protocols you need, so I'll give the author credit for that). I bought the new one only to find myself looking at an identical book. There were hardly any added images in the second edition...

I recently graduated from the Florida Institute of Ultrasound. I desperatly needed some help in my new job remembering protocols, measurements, and how my images should appear before turning them in to the radiologist. This book has been a life saver! It's easy reference markers allows me to quickly find the subject I need, review protocol, and still have the patient out without prolonging the exam. A must have for new graduates.

I bought the new one only to find myself looking at an identical book. There were hardly any added images in the second edition and it's not worth getting. My advice, stick to the first edition if you already have it. Buy the second edition "only" if you don't have the first edition.

2.0 out of 5 stars No indications of landmark, February 21, 2011
A Kid's Review
The pictures are good. The instructions on how to take the images are missing. No identification of landmark. Conclusion this book is not good for a student.

i like the images, and it does help with annotation, but i wish the protocol was complete like in the betty bates tempkin actual hardbound book's original school edition...i feel like i paid more than for what i got....overal its ok and practical...also wished it was actually pocket size..bigger and wider than i expected.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Reference, March 19, 2009

This book is a great reference, especially for students! It is completely thorough and one may quickly reference anything pertaining to imaging protocol. My only complaint would be that it doesn't show where to properly take measurements or place calipers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pocket Protocols for Ultrasound Scanning, by Betty Bates Tempkin2nd EditionI, May 29, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
The title of my book is Pocket Protocols for Ultrasound Scanning by Betty Bates Tempkin 2nd Edition. I purchased this book from Amazon.

I went thru the pages of the book and I give it a rate of 5 star. This book was highly recommended by my OB/GYN and Abdomen Instructor who said she always used it when she was a Tech., because it shows landmark/s to help you know that you are at the right image/structure. She was right. The landmarks are very helpful and are side by side with the images. You don't have to flip pages to look for these landmarks. As far as I am concerned, this is a must have book for scanning especially for beginners like me.

This is a great book to have for referencing to study the organs of the human body. It has been a great help with helping me to get to know the familiarity of the organs and what good ultrasound pics are. I would recommend this to any Sonography student.
