I also higly recommend calibre to manage and deal with your ebooks, especially for this device as it can deal with so many formats.

I was about to get the micro cruz when I found this product. After buying it I am really happy for each single dollar I spent.

It is a reader that does a little more than that.

Warning: It is not an Ipad but justifies spending only $150 instead of $500.

When I was searching products I got the feeling from people that bought both: the kindle for heavy duty and the fancy Ipad to take care at home.

Well I needed something nice for the road and in color.

Pros:
Is able to read most reading formats in color (txt, html, pdf, etc)
Plays mp3 and videos, you tube
Wifi connection only (no plan needed)
When upgraded to Android 2.2 this 2011, a lot of nice applications will be available that are right now for android phones. (Think about TTS instead of reading!)

Cons:
Resistive screen (although a good one)
Limited memory for third party apps (this will be solved when upgraded to android 2.2)
Quality video is fair for the price

I may say is better than nook, bn and kindle but not than Ipad

I suggest that once you buy this product go immediately to factory website and get the latest firmware and take your time registering your product to bookland which is the linked bookstore for this product.

I am happy with my Pocketbook 701 IQ. It is that I need: a good reader and a low level Tablet. Only I would like more battery life.

So far no problems. Have found support online if needed. Firmware is still being updated so not all Android functions are available.

First I purchased this as my large e-reader, pdfs, pictures/graphics, etc. I wanted something that I could connect to the web with in my house to pull up news sites or other sites just around my house. I also wanted something that could, with the available software, be the most open platform for ebooks, ie kindle app lets you read kindle books, and it can let you borrow books from many public libraries offering e-lending.

Out of the box it wasn't perfect and should have had better software or had it come out relatively soon. I got it a few months after it launched and the next firmware upgrade was supposed to happen soon, soon came and went and IIRC nearly 6+ months later the update was released. By this point some tinkerers had made revisions to the firmware dealing with some of the issues it had so you could use their versions if you were willing to 'risk it' as well as doing some upgrades to the internal SD card for more space/speed not that it really needed that.

I was busy for most of my first year and even now to bother with the update, I learned of it a few months back and just haven't gotten around to installing the update to allow access to a certain app store and some other features like flash capabilty.

The battery life wasn't impressive, a few hours with wifi on, maybe 5-6 off. I don't mind so much as I'm not using it more that a few hours in the longest stints so it isn't a huge issue for me. I also don't travel with it so again having to recharge is not a real concern for me.
