Princess Luna was visiting from the moon for the joyous harvest day celebration. All the villagers were gathered around the festival square eating dancing and having a wonderful time. Meanwhile far away on Demon Island Dynagon was plotting his revenge. After the beautiful Princess Luna refused to marry him Dynagon went into a frenzy. Dynagon then ordered Impy his most faithful servant to go kidnap the princess from the harvest festival in order to force her to get married to him. 'Help! Help!' cried the Princess but it was too late. In a flash she desappeared. Pocky stood in amazement as she watched the Princess vanish. As Pocky and her partner you are about to embark on a fantastic and dangerous adventure to rescue the Princess. You will need to use your wits and bravery to reach the end of your journey. Is this a great sequel? Yes. Is this as underrated as the first? Yes. Is this as good as the first? In some instances, but not fully. I think they might have weakened the game's difficulty in certain areas, and in other areas, increased it, making the game a bit of a turn-off, but not unplayable. I do like the fact that the game is rather balanced in the choices of characters you have. My only problem: why not have them all accessible from the start? Also, it kind of makes certain characters like Rocky forgettable due to the usefulness of everyone else. Still, I would definitely pick this game up for sequel and action purposes. Just, not before you play the first one...

Take the cute-style sprites of Yoshi's Island, the combat style of Zelda: A Link to the Past, and the princess-gone-missing plot of any Mario game, and you'll have Pocky and Rocky 2.

This game has always been overlooked, but it's suprisingly good if you enjoy the above mentioned characterisitics in a video game. You play as Pocky and are accompanied by a computer-controlled companion of your choice. Your partner can be one of three characters including Rocky the raccoon, Bomber Bob, and Little Ninja (There are 3 other partners but you must find them before you can use them.). You have many abilities including a card throw (which can be altered through power-ups) a very effective shield doubling as a weapon, and a "magic" power which will fuse you and your partner into one body.

In my opinion, the best feature of the game is the ability to play in a simultaneous two-player mode. You and a friend can take on the battles together, which can be extremely handy in the always difficult boss stages.

The least attractive quality in Pocky and Rocky 2 would be the writing/translation. It doesn't seem like the game's designers spent enough time here. The story itself is worded extremely simply, and the characters do everything from repeat themselves to over-explaining things. It's not an awful flaw for the casual gamer, but if the story is what makes it for you, look elsewhere.
