What a wonderful CD-- I had never heard about Ivete Sangalo before she played Madison Square Garden, and then I ordered two of her records. What a great, fun CD. Na Base do Beijo is my favorite song, and I catch myself listening to it over and over.

The entire CD is really great, though. I hope she comes to concert near me soon!

Buy it!! She's pretty much the biggest musical star in Brasil. If you spend any time in Brasil, especially if you go to Carnaval you WILL hear her songs A LOT. Everybody sings along & yes, that even means us guys. This year I was in a lot of different cities for Carnaval (Salvador, Recife, etc.) & heard her songs over & over & over-even more than "Tonight's gonna be a good night" by the Black-Eyed Peas which was HUGE at that time in Brasil. Every summer in America, we have a few major hits that are THE songs of the summer. You can be pretty sure that one of the hits every summer there will be from her. Remember the seasons are switched because they're south of the equator so Carnaval is at the end of summer. But anyways back to Ivete. Luckily my girlfriend informed me who she was & I felt like I was part of the "in" crowd despite not even speaking Portuguese. It's amazing how often you hear her songs in Brasil- even on a daily basis on the biggest tv shows there like Ti Ti Ti. I've seen her in New York, Miami & I've even seen her open up for Beyonce in Brasil. If you want to start exploring Brazilian culture or are looking to feel more involved in the party at Carnaval, this is the cd to get. Period.

Usually I prefer her live recordings to her studio ones because she seems livelier, but this album pleasantly surprised me. There is a good mix of styles, and she seems to have fun while singing with the many people she collaborates with. The best songs in my opinion are: Muito Obrigado Axe (with Maria Bethania), Cade Dalila? and Teus Olhos.
