3.0 out of 5 stars Finally, somebody alittle more hood!!!
For so long we had to listen to female rap about 1 thing, their pus*y. Now I admit that Jacki-O does make a lot of comments about hers. But its more than how much she can get for it. She refers to her's as her best friend. There has been alot of comparison of Jacki-O to Trina, but with this album to me Jacki-o proves that the only thing they have in common is their love...

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid debut from the 'Madam of Miami', October 27, 2004
This review is from: Poe Little Rich Girl (Audio CD)
Nowadays it's hard to see past the dominant sexual association that comes to mind when we think about female rappers. Realistically, very few female rappers have sustained a career that isn't based on sex, money and designer clothes. Jacki-O has seemingly managed to find a balance between the sex and the struggle, whilst displaying both her emcee talents, as well as some apt vocals (Break You Off, Pretty).

Miami-born Angela Kohn is one of few Miami talents to obtain a record deal. Poe Little Rich Girl offers a fresh sound that is both helping to give Jacki-O a unique sound, as well as develop the slowly thriving Miami hip-hop scene. For a debut effort, Poe Little Rich Girl is a solid work that boasts production by Timbaland (Slow Down), Red Spyda (Sugar Walls, Somebody's Getting F***ed), Jazze Pha (Break You Off), Gorilla Tek and more. It's easy to see that Jacki-O has real rapping skills as she effortlessly rides the beat on Sugar Walls, Slow Down and her new single Fine featuring labelmates, the Ying Yang Twins. Jacki-O has stressed in several interviews that she is not just about the sex and the fashion, as she addresses real-life issues and talks about her less than perfect beginnings.

This CD is a must-have for fans of rap that appreciate artists who are trying to develop something unique. There are the obvious influences from the likes of Lil' Kim, however she uses these influences as a way to make the right decisions. This album is more gangsta than Foxy Brown and more raw than Lil' Kim, we get to know who Jacki-O is and where she stands. The most compelling thing about her is that she seems to embody what she raps about, she isn't trying to be something she's not and she isn't afraid to say what needs to be said.

5.0 out of 5 stars the Madam of Miami, July 3, 2005
This review is from: Poe Little Rich Girl (Audio CD)
I'm kinda of baffled by the pointless one star/one line reviews here, but i'll say my piece on this album... it's actually really pretty good. I'm a big fan of female rappers (to the review who said they all suck, i recommend you see a therapist to deal with some of your gender issues) but often i'll buy an album to find a few tracks i really like and a lot i couldn't care less about. For example, Diamond Princess by Trina: i'll keep going back to it for Hustling, B R Right and Nasty Bitch, but so much of it i just skip through. Poe Lil Rich Girl, however, is impressively consistant. i might not love every track, but they all have something to offer, and that's great. On the awesome one two punch of Slow Down and Sugar Walls, Jacki even gets a terrifying kind of momentum going, that if sustained over the whole album, would make it an instant classic. unfortunately, it's not quite, but we do get some awesome tracks such as Livin It Up and Tooken Back, to make this album well worth buying. and although it's true that on some tracks Jacki doesn't say much of interest, she can also devliver hot lines such as 'The way he ate the snapper call him Jacque Costeau', and 'how many nuts i got to bust in your face before you shut up?', so i'd say if you like the sound of any Jacki you've heard, go out and buy this album!

5.0 out of 5 stars the 'Madam of Miami'provides a solid debut that is enjoyable, October 29, 2004

if you're curious about this album, disregard the two negative reviews below as they were posted by the SAME PERSON..

on to my review

Last summer, "Nookie," the graphic single by new rap artist Jacki-O, commanded listeners to stop and take notice. Both outraged and enticed, audiences have been waiting since that release for the album debut of "Poe Little Rich Girl." On Oct. 26 the wait will be over, and people can find out for themselves just how low Jacki-O will go.

In spite of her sex-sells marketing strategy, the former hustler and phone-sex operator has created a diverse album that strikes a balance between sexy and over-sexed. Her voice doesn't get old, and she doesn't sound like she's trying too hard to project an image generated by her label. Heavily tattooed and fond of long wigs, Jacki-O looks looks like an over-exaggerated caricature of a woman with full lips and heavy eyelids.

Her music is all about control - the entire album attests to the fact she has been there, done that and is ready to move on.

In "Ghetto World," one of the CD's finer tracks, Jacki-O is open and vulnerable, rapping, "I ain't a little girl / I'm out here on my own / and the decisions I made / they turned me to a woman / The booze, the bars / jumpin' into dudes' cars / the fights with broads / livin' the life of a ghetto star."

Sexuality is the vehicle used to drive each of the tracks. Jacki-O uses her sensuality as a weapon against men, but she doesn't sound jaded or like a gold digger. She's very much herself, penning each of the songs and most of the arrangements.

"Poe Little Rich Girl" won't be a run-away smash, but it may be enough to propel Jacki-O to star status. Cool and Dre of Terror Squad produced parts of the album and the Ying Yang Twins along with other noteworthy performers collaborated on selected tracks. The Ying Yang Twins, who have a knack for churning out hits, don't disappoint with "Fine," the album's best track.

The album falters at first. "Living it Up" and "Ms. Jacki" stall, discrediting all that follows, but after the third track there is steady improvement.

"Break You Off" draws energy from the combination of a thumping bass line and electronic sounds while Jacki-O and a smooth, male voice exchange banter about their illicit and irresistible relationship.

Tough enough to earn the black and white "Explicit Content" stamp of disapproval, "Poe Little Rich Girl" includes strings and '80s rock guitar on some of its tracks. Steady and occasionally melodious, Jacki-O lays herself bare before her audience sexually and emotionally.

With lines like, "I'm just a girl trying to stay afloat / Momma you had a born winner," Jacki-O mixes messages of empowerment over dance-friendly beats.

But if "Poe Little Rich Girl" is starting to conjure images of Christina Aguilera's "Fighter," reconsider. While Jacki-O has made a dance-worthy album, if you sit down and really listen to her lyrics, you will quickly realize she means business.

"Sleeping with the Enemy," which deals with the wanderings of her sleazy boyfriend, sounds like a soulful Mozart concerto flowing into a booming bass line. Jacki-O laments to her man: "you won't let me load your clip or hide your bricks anymore." Through the course of the song, she decides to get revenge by running up his credit card bills and moves on, saying, "I don't think I'm going back this time."

another track i liked was the endearing "Pretty," a love song praising the boy who thinks she is beautiful even in her hoodie and sees her as more than "round thighs and cup size."

First of all i was a skeptic about the album when i first heard it. I really didnt like it at first, but once you really listnen to it you hear that jacki is great. Her cd is great, she's no trina, but thats not really a bad thing. She is great she has her own style and rythmn and the way she delivers. My favorite songs are basically the whole album. you can put the cd on and just listen to it she has a song for every mood you may be in. One of my favorite lines that she has is "F*ck yo' family and yo phony ass mami" that bitch is real and raw. thats why i love me some jacki. give her a chance you'll surely like the album. Btw..her and trina are cool now. oh yeah i think jacki and trina need to do some songs together..they would then be the real queens of the south. Hold it down Jacki!

For so long we had to listen to female rap about 1 thing, their pus*y. Now I admit that Jacki-O does make a lot of comments about hers. But its more than how much she can get for it. She refers to her's as her best friend. There has been alot of comparison of Jacki-O to Trina, but with this album to me Jacki-o proves that the only thing they have in common is their love for their city. Jacki-o lyrics quickly surpass Trina's ABC style of rapping. That basic bad, fad, had, class, off glass, I gotta fat ass style is not present on Jacki-O album ( THANK GOD!).She's alittle more gritty and street than Trina.Trina is the cheerleader in high school and Jacki-o is the bad girl that skips school. It's just the matter of which one were you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Poe Girl Comes Up..., November 1, 2004
This review is from: Poe Little Rich Girl (Audio CD)
Don't tell Jacki-o how nasty she is, she already knows. After several pushbacks (I think maybe ten million, to be exact) the Madam of Miami finally pulls up a chair and joins the other femme fatales of rap and lives it up. She may not be your mama's dinner guest, but Jacki-o can sure throw one hell of a nasty lyric and delicious backbeat. Several reviews have pointed out that Jacki's album is a horrendous, trashy work of craftmanship. I think they have missed the point. While she doesn't uplift women like Queen Latifah and MC Lyte, or garner the same mainstream appeal of Lil' Kim or Missy Elliot, that's really not her mission. Key in point: P***Y, the explicit, trifling piece of trash so good you will be singing it anywhere, and after all, it does 'pay her bills'. So what if Madam Jacki has nothing new to say, the bottom line is that her album is consistent with its material. The woman isn't trying to be someone she's not, and while she can't sing to save her life (all those curious check out the track Pretty), she sure does try.

The album is full of potential radio hits, albeit edited and completley re-named for FCC's sake. "Sugar Walls" is all bombastic, bootylicious funk and an undeniable hook. Consider "Fine" to be middle-eastern crunk, with brothers Yin and Yang providing grimy down south call-outs, all the same you'll be dropping and rolling all night. Jazze Pha lends another potential and suprisingly tame hit "Break You Off", a perfect combo of r&b and hip-hop.

Low on interludes, high on fun, crass, tastless, somewhat vapid, but altogether a cohesive slice of southern hip-hop- at it's finest... Ignore any negative reviews, because I believe many missed the point of this album. If you want a sista with higher prophecy on her mind check out rap bohemian Mystic, because there is nothing poetic here, just a lot of fun. Pick it up and enjoy. I see great things ahead for this ghetto socialite.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good But Not The Best.........3 and 1/2, March 28, 2005
This review is from: Poe Little Rich Girl (Audio CD)
When JAcki O first came intot he game with her song "P***y" I really wasnt feelin that song. The songs strated to grom on me but the way she raps on it is kinda funny.
This album is alright its not groundbreaking but its on of the best albums released right now. The other single "Fine" feat Yin yang Twins is really good. Her songs are good and have great beats to them but some of her lyrics are kinda like ???..
Other good songs are "Living It Up", "Champion","Sugar Walls" and "Sleeping With The Enemy".

Another good song is "Gangsta B***H" where she brings some gangsta to the music.JAcki O has a good album overall.

I know that she has often has comparisons to Trina because they are both from Miami and all that.ONE THIS STRAIGHT: Trina and Jacki O are two different people and on two different levels.Trina is the BADDEST B and JAcki O does her thang so there really are no comparions. They both make great music so aint nobody takin nobodys TITLE..

Two great female rappers representin

OVERALL GRADE 79/100 = C+

4.0 out of 5 stars Give This Woman A Chance. It's Her 1st Album, January 23, 2005

Oh Boy, where do I start with Jacki-O?

Well, first of all, we have all these female rappers that are trying find get their own style and be different. Soon or later, they start to sound the same.

The only songs I care for are:
Livin' It Up
P*ssy (Real Good)
Fine
Slow
Sugah Wallz
Champion

Other than that, this album isn't the best I've heard from a female rapper.
