From Library Journal
This new reader's edition of Crane's collected poems emends and expands upon the 1966 edition. It includes White Buildings, The Bridge, and Key West in their entirety, and more than 70 uncollected, incomplete, and fragmentary pieces. In striving to present a text compatible with Crane's latest authorial intentions, editor Simon uses the poet's corrected proofs, first printings, and typescripts to restore punctuation and spelling that may have been altered by the original publishers' house styles and a complete collation of variants to determine the text of fragments. While this is not a variorum edition, Simon's notes provide rationales for emendations and dates of composition and publication. His meticulous scholarship has produced an essential tool for students of this most enigmatic modernist poet. Fred Muratori, Cornell Univ. Lib. Elytis, Odysseas. What I Love.
