Quevedo himself grouped his poems in categories corresponding to the nine muses. The second muse, Polymnia, "sings moral poetry ...which reveals and seeks to reform human passions and customs". Alphonso Rey offers a critical edition of the 110 sonnets, one silva and one epistle in tercetos, which make up this group. The problems of textual criticism and transmission are elucidated, and the thematic and stylistic homogeneity of the collection is revealed
