Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is probably the only Documentary available for the great R&B singer song writer Percy Mayfield. It includes a live club performance from 1981 and footage shot at his home in December 1982.
He talks about his life and music and sings some of his famous compositions.
A 1952 auto accident left him seriously injured, including a facial disfigurement. This limited his performing for sometime However, this did not stop his songwriting.
In 1961 he wrote "Hit the Road Jack" which became a hit for Ray Charles.
When Mayfield died of a heart attack in 1984, the day before his 64th birthday, he had fallen into obscurity.
This Video is a rare opportunity to see into the life of a truly great artist.
