Just received my case today (Case was ordered on Oct. 1st) and felt I should write a review of what I think is the first full protection/hybrid (hard plastic and soft rubber) case for the Nexus 7. I previously dropped my nexus and the screen/digitizer shattered. Luckily it was covered by my credit card, but it would have cost me $150 to fix. After this experience, I ordered Square trade insurance and began a search for a very sturdy case. After looking everywhere this was the first/only case I found that was similar to the Otterbox Defender series for the ipad.

Installation - The nexus fits like a glove inside this case with very little room to spare. I modified a privacy screen to fit my nexus and with that it was a VERY tight fit (of note, I'm still able to use the touch screen without problem, even with two covers on the screen). The buttons line up perfectly and using the volume and sleep buttons are very easy. It took about 5 minutes to install. Remove the rubber covering, split the hard plastic halves, place the nexus inside and reinstall the rubber. It's as simple as that.

Design - Out of the box, the case looks very sleek. If any of you have seen the Otterbox Defender series for the ipad, this case is very similar. It offers full protection for the nexus including a thin plastic screen cover. All the buttons and ports are covered by a rubber cut out flap except for the two microphone holes and the speaker. Based on previous experiences with these small flaps (on the otterbox for ipad) I don't expect these to last very long. The flaps pivot on a very thin slice of rubber so I expect them to tear off soon. On the back there is a portrait stand, landscape stand and a half circle so you can attach a lanyard. The stands do not feel extremely sturdy and based on the weight (the cover nearly doubles the weight of the Nexus) I don't feel very confident in their long term function. I hate to keep comparing this with the Otterbox, but the landscape stand is nearly identical to their design and that broke within 4 months of me having the Otterbox. It's just too flimsy. The lanyard ring also looks a little too weak for the overall weight of the device.

Customer Service - I'm very big on companies that go out of their way to satisfy their customer. I ordered the case on Oct. 1st and was contacted shortly thereafter by Poetic. They told me that the revolution was going to take a while to be shipped so they discounted the price and sent me another case to keep my nexus protected until the Revolution came (although it was hot pink.....). The customer service agents were extremely courteous and prompt in our communication.

Pro:
- Full protection for the nexus. I feel confident letting my 2 year old play with the nexus now.
- Outstanding customer service
- Full functionality of all the buttons and ports
- Plastic screen cover will prevent you from having to purchase an extra screen protector
- Easy installation and sleek tight fitting design
- Rubber out-sole provides decent grip

Con
- The stands on the back are poorly made. Too flimsy and likely to break. This includes the lanyard attachment point.
- Doubles the weight of the nexus
- The rubber flaps that cover the ports are poorly attached and are likely to tear with normal use.

Overall: 4 stars because this case does what I want it to do: protect. I have a 2 year old who has put the Otterbox on our ipad through some serious use. I knew the other cases offered for the nexus wouldn't stand up to her test of durability. I thought about giving the case 3 stars based on the poor design of the stands, however considering the awesome customer service and overall protection it deserves a 4. Also, I'm not 100% sure how to change the design to make them more sturdy without adding bulk so maybe there is no real alternative.

I looked OBSESSIVELY for a case for my new Nexus7, and FINALLY found this one. It had everything I wanted! A rubber bumper, a screen protector (no more applying touchy films), and the ability to stand up in both directions. Also, VERY affordable. When it arrived, I was even more pleased with it. It installed easily, and all the buttons and ports lined up perfectly. Like some of the other reviews, I had trouble lifting the rubber flap to plug in the charger, but I simply trimmed the flap off altogether. All the other flaps open easily. The flip-out stand on the back seems a little flimsy, but it's held up (literally!) just fine for almost two months now.

Then, I got an email from the company saying they felt the screen protector wasn't as clear as it could be (I hadn't noticed any issue with it) and they were AUTOMATICALLY sending out a new front piece to everyone who had bought this case. NICE!!! I have not installed it yet because my original one looks fine to me, but the new one is protected nicely and seems well made. Now I have a spare of the one part that would make this case unusable for me if damaged. AND, the company didn't charge S&H, or wait to hear if I would eventually complain, they just sent it. How refreshing is that?!?

Received this case in a clear plastic bag with no box, instruction, nothing. Case basically consist of plastic clam shell with clear screen and wrapped in a separate soft foam wrap that goes around the unit. The clam shell is badly warped so that it will not stay closed to hold the tablet in place. There is a major design flaw in that internal tabs that holds the clam shell together is insufficient. Even if you could keep it closed for a minute, by simply bumping into something will cause it to separate. The outer foam piece is very thin piece that wraps around the clam shell but it fits way too loose where the edges will pull away from the intended groove. There is a reason why this product has been delayed continuously for delivery and they need major rework before I can recommend this unit to anyone. Look elsewhere, this is a poorly made product.

I've had the case on my Google Nexus 7 for over 2 months now and it has not failed me yet. My 16 month old son drops, throws, and spits up all over the tablet, but does not get affected by any of his shenanigans because the case is just too awesome. I would highly recommend to anyone with a toddler this case to protect the Google Nexus.
If you are wondering, the case fits perfectly around the Nexus 7. It has vents in the back for the speakers to be clearly heard. The buttons all line up with the case's rubber coating.

I agree with the other review about the screen protector having a texture. The texture deteriorates the image on the screen. It was very apparent and there wasn't any way I was going to leave the screen protector in place. I use my Nexus 7 mostly for reading and the text was blurred. It wasn't hard to remove the screen protector, so that is what I did.

The fit is a little more subjective. The tablet does fit inside the hard plastic well, but the rubber cover doesn't fit to the hard plastic that good. A firm grip on the case dislodges the rubber, outer cover.

I have to say that I was very disappointed because I also have the Poetic HardBack Protective Case and it is absolutely wonderful.

Why in the world would anyone create a screen protector with textured anti-glare plastic???? Well they did with this case. It was so bad that I had to take an exacto knife and cut it out. So ... there went the warranty ... I should have just returned it. The rubber piece that fits around the hard plastic case is loose ... not even close to a tight fit. Maybe I just got a lemon but nothing will help the rubber piece fit properly. The actual hard case is ok and it fits well on the Nexus (that's why I gave it the second star) but the stands are a joke ... cheap plastic that with much use are sure to break off so I'll just not bother using them.

I'll only be keeping this case on until I can find a better replacement. If this was something like $7.99 with free shipping then I'd say it's worth using while waiting for something better but word to the wise ... get a cheap portfolio case and wait for a better Otter type case.

I purchased this after the tablet was accidentally dropped and the screen cracked. Fortunately, we had purchased a warranty that insured us against such an event. The tabled was repaired at no cost to us but a lesson was learned. This protective cover doesn't interfere with using the tablet in any way.

Very protective and fits well but a bit bulky. My husband liked it a lot but it got too heavy to take it on the train every day.

Appearance: The enclosure looks really well made, the black on black appearance gives it a nice sleek look.
Functionality: This particular case has some pretty good external features including the optional vertical or horizontal stands which make watching movies in the office a pleasure. The built in screen protector feels a bit cheap, but as with these types of electronic devices you shouldn't be throwing them to the ground. While it is fully enclosed with a rubber protective skin, this product will not serve as an equal to the otter box quality which would provide more ruggedized capability.
Installation: installation takes a bit of patience it takes a bit of effort to get the case to snap together, and removing the device takes a little more effort than it should.

Overall this product is adequate if you want to provide some screen and exterior protection. The case and outer skin do feel a bit cheap so it may be a false sense of security if you are looking to completely ruggedize your device, but for the price it is a good buy. I enjoy this product because of functionality and price.

It's not an Otterbox, but of course, it doesn't have an Otterbox pricetag. Wouldn't mind paying a bit more for durability, especially in the kickstand (rather than "blingy" molding), plastic is a bit flimsy there as with rubber flags. This is definitely not much of an outdoor rugged case. Not sure if it's 100% water proof. Always wondering if water is getting in there. Otherwise, for indoor use and some light outdoor use (not necessarily recommended for camping or hiking) this isn't a bad case for the price.
