It looks good and fits well.

I've noticed it a couple times but the cover has to be folded back JUST RIGHT (or should I say just wrong) to turn the device off.

I like how it turns your kindle on when you open the cover and puts it to sleep when you close the cover.

I purchased one of these covers in spite of the warnings about it putting the Kindle to sleep when the cover was folded all the way back, and was pleased to find that in my case, it wasn't true. Since the logo on my case was in a different orientation than the one in the photos, I thought maybe it was a different edition and that poetic took care of the problem. Since I was quite pleased overall with the case, I ordered a second one, figuring it was cheap, and that I'd have a spare, since nothing lasts forever. (sigh)

I just received my second one today. Although the magnets that hold the cover closed on the original were flush, they stick out on the second case, just enough to be irritating. The cover doesn't seem to fold or unfold as correctly as the first one, i.e. it's not quite square. The other thing is that this cover DOES exhibit the unwanted behavior, where it will randomly put the Kindle to sleep or wake it up when the cover is folded all the way back. I haven't explored any of the "fixes" since I just got it today, but I'll update it if I come up with any good news.

If you don't fold the cover all the way back when you're reading, you shouldn't have any problems, but otherwise... It's a gamble. :-(

EDITED - 2/14/13:

II am editing this review and Increasing my rating to 3 stars from 1 star. I liked the concept of this case so much that I decided to purchase another 1 and hope my first 1 was defective. Turns out that is some what the case . The first 1 I purchased didn't seem to fold back quite right it was a little cock eyed. and because of that whenever you fold back the cover, the magnet in the cover turned the device off.

This new one though doesn't have that problem NEAR as much. I've noticed it a couple times but the cover has to be folded back JUST RIGHT (or should I say just wrong) to turn the device off. So now the cover is almost perfect for me. But be aware.

ORIGINAL REVIEW
this is an awesome case and I love how form fitting and slim it is. HOWEVER it won't work for me AT ALL because when you fully open the case and fold the cover back it shuts off the paperwhite. Please look into fixing this. I have heard reviews of other cases that had this same problem and were fixed with some kind of anti magnetic sticker. Let me know if you can fix this issue and I will buy another. Until then I am returning this.

As the other reviewers have stated:
+The case came quickly as usual with Amazon 2 day shipping.
+It is a solid build and snaps to the kindle.
+The kindle turns on when opening the cover.
=There is a smell (not unpleasant imo)that will fade.
-The case turns the kindle on and off when folded completely back which would be a deal breaker for me.

The aluminium foil workaround should not work since aluminium does not prevent magnetism. However, just having material and distance between the kindle and the magnet may work as J Criswell stated.

I found a nickel/copper coin (wu jiao) to shield the magnet--but this option isn't available for most since American coins aren't magnetic.

If you are fine with not opening the cover completely or find a workaround for the magnet then this cover is great.
If not, this issue is the reason why the case is significantly cheaper than others.

I love the case; the Kindle fits perfectly and it's very slim. However, the deal breaker is that when folded back, the cover turns off the Kindle--then it turns on again, then off, etc. On my case, at least, the magnets are fitted just enough off that when folded back they come in contact with the other set of magnets and then bam! off it goes. If not for this, it would be perfect.

Update 3/6/13. I returned the first case got a second case, it did the same thing. I was about to send this one back and give it another try, when the price went up from what I had paid, and I decided to keep it to see if I could come up with a solution. First, a straight edge razor blade inserted inside the cover on the lower right fixes it, but I was afraid of the problems this would cause at airport security! Today I searched my button box for a button that could be picked up with a magnet. I found one, took it outside, smashed it with a hammer till it was thinner than a dime--and about dime sized. Put it in the same spot in the case and voila! I can read and fly.

Just wanted to write a quick review to say I have had zero issues with this case. Super thin and light, and the magnets are fine. Maybe there was a re-design, but whatever problems the cases use to have are solved. Paid $5, worth every penny.

First off, I recently bought the Poetic Slimline Portfolio for my Nexus 7, and it is a great cover. I like that Poetic is actually injection molding the back part that the device fits into, so you get a case that is made to fit your device, not held in place with elastic straps.

When I went on the hunt for a cover for my new Kindle Paperwhite, it seemed like all the other covers were the elastic-strap type. On a whim, I pre-ordered this cover even though there were no pics and the description said it would be in stock in January.

To my surprise, it was delivered 2 days later, and IT IS NICE! And only ten bucks. The back is injection molded, the cover is nice and thin and closes with a magnet. It also turns on and off the power to the Kindle when opened and closed. This is the nicest case available for the Paperwhite. I will add a few pictures to the listing, since I'm apparently the first owner of one of these covers. Thanks again to Poetic; I'm definitely a customer for life.

Edit: Added 4 pics.
