Finally the Album Arrives,
This review is from: Poetica (Audio CD)
New York Duo Iio (Markus Moser, Dj/Producer and Nadia Ali, vocals) has been around for something like 5 years now and had plenty of club hits like "Rapture" "At the End", "Kiss You" and "Smooth" but a album was never released until now the band decided to split up and the company put up all of their recorded song on one collection named "Poetica". The music is a mix of Club/Dance and well crafted Dance Pop with great melodies and hooks, Nadia Ali's voice is really seductive and perfectly suited for Iio and she simply makes any song interesting apart from a bunch of other colourless singers in this genre and Markus Moser has a sixth sense for great pop. Needless to say, if you liked their old singles you are going to like the rest of the album aswell. It follows the same path apart from 9 minute "Chastity" that is a non-commercial club song. Instead of going for singles, go for the album, 15 great dance-pop songs. Enjoy!.

Waiting half a decade after your first hit to finally deliver your debut album is sure to get fans annoyed, but in iio's case they've been smart enough to tide them over by releasing a string of tasteful singles along the way. It's a relief to have "Rapture", "At the End", "Runaway" and "Smooth" all in one place, but the problem with iio is certainly their failure to extend their musical boundaries. Each song follows the pattern of throbbing bass, an ambient-like groove and singer Nadia's enticing vocals. The formula works with individual club singles, but over the course of an entire LP it certainly wears thin. Still, the hypnotic hooks on "Rapture" are just as intoxicating five years later, and recent hits "Kiss You" and "Is It Love?" (the latter became the group's first No.1 on the US dance chart in 2006) continue the pulsing sound that has become iio's trademark. After such a long wait, "Poetica" does come across as a slight disappointment, but in terms of singles iio remains one of the more consistent acts in current dance music.

About flippin' time!!,

Ever since I first laid ears on "Rapture" and "At the End" I've been fantasizing about an album... 4 long years after I discovered them, it's finally here!! I admit, it's not what I expected. Most of the tracks are nothing like their first 2 hits in style, though there are certain similarities. Nadia's vocals are as smokey and seductive as ever and Moser lays down some pretty impressive (not to mention intoxicating) beats to perfectly compliment her.
In spite of the difference in style from their hit singles, or perhaps because of it, I haven't been able to get this CD out of my player or my head. It's... addictive. Every time I hear a song again, I pick up something different, something more. Definitely not what I expected, but also one of my new favorite albums. This one's not leaving my CD changer for a good long while.

This is the classic album behind all the mixes.,

If you hear countless mixes of a few good songs and wish you knew what the original songs actually sound like without ten layers of mixing over it, this is one of those albums. This is pure, unadulterated iio- and it sounds great overall. All of the classics are here- Rapture, At the End, Kiss You... If you have heard any mix of the song Rapture and liked the voice in it, then you will like this album: Van Buuren makes a great musical backdrop that allows Nadia Ali's voice to truly shine.

Stellar album,

Poetica is awesome. Every single track on the album is stellar. My personal favorites are chastity, rebel, runaway & tantric not to mention the hits rapture, at the end, kiss you & is it love. Every single track is quality. Nadia's voice stands out from all other bands in the electronic/trance genre. If you like the 4 Strings material really consider Poetica (both bands have great vocals) though the beats are a bit slower, which better complements the sultry vocals. Truly unique. There aren't many albums out in this genre like this one.

OVerall, very good pop/club music album. It's rare to see "albums" in the electronic/club music market and very few good vocals. It's mainly a DJ/music producers' showcase. This album really highlights the voice of Nadia Ali. The music/production ranges from average to good but the vocals are consistently great and really make this album worth buying and listening to.

This album will take you into a whole different melodic mood. It's ethereal meets trance with the amazing voice of Nadia. If you like bands like 4 strings, Dido or Sarah mclachlan then you will love this band.

Once again Iio keeps it real and delivers another stellar single. First caught it on XM radio and couldn't believe me ears. From Rapture to Is it love...still masterful, superb dance!

I thought this was going to be more of a techno/trance cd but it was not. Most of the songs are very slow.
