The reason i started to listen to Teitur is because he was opening for John Mayer last year. He was so simple and his lyrics were so heartfelt....I fell in love with him instantly. I bought his album right after the show and i have been passing it around to all my friends and they love him too. He is just so great and once you start listening to this album you will just get hooked. My favs from this CD are ,You are the Ocean, I was Just Thinking and To See You. And if you fall in love with him like i did make sure that you try and catch a show because he is also great live. www.teitur.com

Sublime Beauty,

I've heard Teitur compared to artists like John Mayer, but I have to say that, with all due respect, Mr. Mayer has NOTHING on Teitur.
That means no disrespect to John Mayer, who has some real talent hiding beneath his poppish sheen. Check out some of his earlier, acoustic work before 'Room For Squares' - it's really darn good. But anyway, Teitur. This album is one of the greatest I've heard in the past four years, and it's one of the only new albums I've heard that I still listen to over and over again over a year after I purchased it. From the very beginning of "Sleeping with the Lights On", I am hooked - and I stay that way throughout the album. (with the exception of the uninspired 'Josephine' that acts as a real mood-killer.) You're the Ocean is an utterly phenominal song, and I recommend this album to anyone who likes driving at night and just letting the music take them along for the ride.

I saw Teitur about a year ago when he opened for John Mayer and was blown away. This CD is a perfect combination between haunting melody and moving ballads. He is an incredibly talented singer/songwriter. Lyrics are honest, yet simple, capturing what it is to be human; to want, to err, and to love...
[favorite tracks: amandas dream, i was just thinking, sleeping with the lights on]

Very original...,

Teitur is a wonderful artist and very, very original. He plays soft music...I especially love his song, Josephine. The lyrics to "Josephine" are just heart-felt...If you like artists such as Ben Jelen or Ryan Cabrera, than check this CD out. (he is my fav out of Ben and Ryan...)

Debut shows promise for this singer songwriter from the Faeroe Islands...,
This review is from: Poetry & Aeroplanes (Dig) (Audio CD)
The last thing you would expect to come out of the Faeroes, a small cluster of sparse islands in the North Atlantic, is a talented singer-songwriter whose debut album shows considerable promise for the future. Introduced to American audiences by singer John Mayer, Teitur Larssen has now joined sheep and fish as a major export of the Faeroes.
Teitur is reminiscent of a young James Taylor or Cat Stevens. The tracks Sleeping With The Lights On, Poetry and Aeroplanes, Let's Go Dancing, and One and Only are the best showcases of Teitur's gentle style: Combining a simple but elegant guitar line and a gentle and emotive tenor, Teitur creates music perfect for a romantic evening meal or a easy Sunday drive. Teitur is not here to rock you, but he will bring you a sense of peace and perhaps a little longing for a past love. Clocking in at under 40 minutes, Poetry and Aeroplanes is not entirely without drawback. Some tracks are just not as developed, lacking an urgency and energy and reminding us that Teitur is still in his musical infancy. Overall though, there is enough promise and talent here to make the total experience enjoyable, and leave us interested in hearing more from this budding Scandanavian singer.

I bought Damien Rice's O (another great album) on amazon and they told me that if I bought Damien Rice, I might also enjoy Teitur - I bought it with expectations that, once I listened to the CD, were vastly exceeded. Teitur's CD is gorgeous acoustic guitar mixed with clever, moving poetic lyrics and a soft, rich singing voice. It's a simple fact that if you're into acoustic and folk music, then you have to own 'Poetry and Aeroplanes'. No acoustic/folk fan should be without it. It's romantic, it's delicate, it's melodic... it's Teitur, and you won't be disappointed.

I saw Teitur open for Hanson in Detroit this past August and fell in love with his music. This CD is addictive and is perfect for times when you just need to relax. Dim the lights, lights a couple of mood candles, sit back and relish the quiet. His CD is almost always in my CD player. I also saw him in October opening for Angie Aparo. He is AMAZING live. His performance is CD quality...this is hard to find in most acts nowadays. If you like Coldplay, John Mayer, Jack Johnson, and some of the more mellow Dave Matthews, chances are you'll like Teitur too. His music is uplifting and yet haunting and his lyrics are creative and inspiring. Stand out songs are...well actually, I can't pick, I love them all, I really do. But if I had to pick a few I'd say..."I Was Just Thinking", "You're The Ocean", "Poetry and Aeroplanes", "Josephine", "Amanda's Dream", "Let's Go Dancing"........man, I just love them all.

Teitur, LIVE,

Teitur was the opening act for Glen Phillips in November at the Iota Cafe in Virginia. I remember being offered Teiturs CD when I entered the cafe, I politely replied, that I needed to hear this opening act, before buying a CD from someone I never heard of before. After hearing 4 songs, I rushed out to the front of the cafe to buy his CD. After the performance he gladly signed my CD and spoke with me and my friend Melanie, who I met there to hear Glen sing. Teitur is so shy, but you'd never know this when he sings. His performance was great, as was Glen's and I was lucky to be only 5 feet away during the entire show. I might not be his classic target audience, being 48 years old, but his music knows no age. I enjoyed his performance so much that I just made reservations for his show at Jammn' Java in Vienna Virginia on January 22, 2004. I can't wait for a new Teitur CD.

teitur has a sound all his own - new & fresh amongst all of the singer-songwriters springing up these days. "josephine" is haunting, "poetry & aeroplanes" introspective, & "to meet you" a sweet love song. awesome travelling music, pleasing to all ages (my parents compare him to simon & garfunkel). can't wait for the sophmore cd!

Teitur will make you understand love,
This review is from: Poetry & Aeroplanes (Dig) (Audio CD)
Wow this is one of a few albums where I can say I enjoy every song. Some are a bit slower and you have to let them grow on ya ("untitled", "rough around the edges", "shade of a shadow") then there's others that instantly stick with you ("sleeping with the lights on", "josephine", "one and only")
Just do yourself a favor and buy it, listen to it all the way through and pay attention to the lyrics and you'll know what love is! |
