I had my XM radio tuned in this morning to "Watercolors" and heard such a lovely sound that tonight I bought it. It was Queen Latifah crooning "Poetry Man." Wow!! I have been a huge fan of hers for quite some time now -- Dana Owen's album is one of my favorites. I just love what she did with "California Dreaming." She has shown again that she has the ability to take those old time favorites and update them; and, I must say make them even better. What a talented young woman and such a beauty. I just wish her only the very best.

Unlike the other two reviewers, I AM a fan of Latifah's other musical work. This is different, though. It is soft, sweet. Her voice & phrasing is reminiscent of the 70s original but has its own flavor to make it contemporary. Sometimes, remakes only make you long for the original. This one, though, stands on its own. I heard this on an online radio station and immediately went to purchase it for myself. Highly recommended.

I know of Queen Latifah the same way I know of most celebrities.

If I was standing in line at the grocery store and noticed her standing behind me I'd have thought "wow! That's Queen Latifah" but I wouldn't have fired off a single synapse towards why I know her name or what she's accomplished.

With this one song that all changed.

I am now a HUGE fan.

She is truly gifted.

I first heard her on the NPR radio show and I was lost instantly. Chills ran down my spine, my heart begin to race. I was overcome. What a amazing voice and song. I am not a fan. I like her acting. Didn't know until that day that she even sang. Since that day, I couldn't wait to get to my PC to order the song.
What a gift!!!!
