Johnny Tillotson is an American singer and songwriter. Tillotson enjoyed his greatest success in the early 1960s when he scored a series of Top Ten hits including "Poetry in motion" and the self-penned "It Keeps Right on a-Hurtin'." In total, he placed 30 singles and albums in the billboard charts between 1958 and 1984. His string of hits allowed him to establish a performing career both in the U.S. and around the world, that kept him steadily working well into the 21st century. --This text refers to an alternate Audio CD edition.

Compilation of some of Johnny Tillotson's hits from 1958 through 1965. Tracks 1, 2,7, 11 and 12 are in mono, the rest in true stereo. The back of the CD states the following:

"All tracks are transferred from the original stereo master tapes except: Tracks # 1, 2, 7 which appear in mono because true stereo masters do not exist. Tracks # 11, 12 appear in mono because a true stereo single master could not be located."

Besides the infamous Poetry In Motion, hearing the hard to find stereo version of Earth Angel makes this CD worth the money. Good job by Varese Sarabande (the CD label that produced this). Track Listing:

This is an impressive compilation of Johnny Tillotson's hits. I would have liked to have had "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry" on here. It was the flip side of another Hank Williams, Sr. song "I Can't Help It" that Johnny did in the fall of 1962. And "You Can Never Stop Me Loving You", a great teenage angst song from 1963, would have worked better with its otherwise great acoustics if it had been available in stereo; otherwise, this is a pretty complete account of his hits. "Earth Angel"? Not a hit for Johnny; I'll stick with the Penguins on that one.
