This book has saved my life,
By A Customer
This review is from: Poetry of Pain (Paperback)
There are days when I wake up and hurt all over since having FM. I wish I could just stay in bed and wish the pain away. I have alot of life challenges along with my FM such as being an advocate for my special needs daughtor. I read and re-read this wonderful book of poetry as it reminds me I'm not alone. It gives me the strength to get up and face each day. Most days are hard but " I'm not alone" and that alone is a mental healing. Thank You Ms. Martinson for sharing. I saw you on the Leeza show and it is great for men to see so they can understand we aren't just "complaining" We truely are in pain. We need family support through this painful situation. Thank you again I suggest all pain sufferers own this book. Tammy W. from Seatle, Wa.

Poetry of Pain captures the essense of all grieving hearts!,
By Dwight Clifford (Kent, WA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Poetry of Pain (Paperback)
We all go through losses in our lives and suffer pain from them, some of us for only brief periods and some forever. Linda Martinson has written my soul in the "Poetry of Pain," capturing the essense of all grieving hearts and the suffering of anyone who is in pain, whether physical or mental. Anyone who reads this will identify with the ups and downs, the despair, and the joy of the brief remissions as we try to color our own days.

Unending Pain,
By Pat Swan (Olympia, WA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Poetry of Pain (Paperback)
Pain -- unending pain, no relief, the desire to end it all, hope for a cure, missing the good times, I knew them all - all the themes in Linda Martinson's "Poetry of Pain." I even identified with the inflamed blur behind the word "PAIN" on the blue cover. Linda's poetry helped me realize that my experience with chronic pain is not unique: others have similar reactions. I understand too that many of my friends would identify with her poems. Some experience chronic pain; others live or work near someone in distress, so I ordered several copies. Thank you, Linda, for sharing your awareness. Your poems tell the story.

Helped me understand chronic pain,
By A Customer
This review is from: Poetry of Pain (Paperback)
Poetry of Pain gave me a window into life of another person. Although I do not suffer from chronic pain, my mother-in-law Joan does. Reading this book gave me a new understanding into battle Joan goes through every day. Joan was so happy to find this book she bought copies for her friends and family. She felt it validated her feelings and explained her experience with pain in a way others could understand.

Reaches into my very core,
By A Customer
This review is from: Poetry of Pain (Paperback)
Linda Martinson's book touches the heart and exposes the pain and surviving of chronic pain. This book has meant a lot to me. It has helped me understand my own pain of surviving fibromyalgia. In September 1998, I was lucky enough to hear Ms. Martinson speak at the Oregon Fibromyalgia Convention. She made the peoms take on a new life and meaning. This is a book I share with my support group and the Fibromayalgia Self Help Course I teach. This is a book well worth having. Thank you for your beautiful words.

Good for sufferers and those that love them,
By A Customer
This review is from: Poetry of Pain (Paperback)
I thought the book was good, in that it tells the pain and agony and frustration of fibromyalgia. The last four poems are more poignant in their imagery and optimism. The poet is not very creative, however, and that upsets me. These would work fine as essays, but as poems on their own, they are unfortunately dull. I read them all with interest since I have severe fibro myself.

It touched my heart,
By Carolyn (Washington) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Poetry of Pain (Paperback)
This is an exceptional book on chronic pain. When I read it, I felt like there was someone out there that could relate to how I feel. It was as though the book was about me. I think it is beautifully written and expresses the impact of chronic pain, both physically and emotionally. Those who suffer from chronic pain and their family must read this book. I would like to thank Linda Martinson for taking the time to write Poetry of Pain.
