Poetry In Stitches - Clothes You Can Knit,
By Market Gardener "Just Grow It!" (N. Arizona) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Poetry in Stitches - Clothes You Can Knit (Hardcover)
This is by far the most beautiful, inspirational and breathtaking knitting book I've ever owned. Each page has art quality photos and gorgeous patterns. The colors are awesome, and the patterns beg to be knitted. The instructions are easy to follow, and although they are for intermediate knitters, as a fairly new knitter I had no trouble following them. If you splurge on just one book for your knitting library, choose this one.

One of the Most Beautiful Knitting Books I Have Ever Seen,
By Bonnie Brody "Book Lover and Knitter" (Port St. Lucie, FL) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (TOP 100 REVIEWER)
This review is from: Poetry in Stitches - Clothes You Can Knit (Hardcover)
Without exception, this is one of the most beautiful knitting books I have ever seen. It is as much an art book as it is a knitting book. The book is filled with luscious photographs of artwork and designs to complement the knitting projects.
The projects in this book are for adults and children and require that you be an intermediate or experienced knitter. However, I recommend this book for all knitters. It is inspirational, beautiful, and a book you will look at over and over to see what beauty can be created through the art of knitting.

Mostly a coffee table book,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Poetry in Stitches - Clothes You Can Knit (Hardcover)
Glancing through this book definitely will inspire you to begin a complicated new project, but it is more of a coffee table book than a knitting instruction book.
Many of the photos show the glories of the scandinavian countryside and its flowers as used for inspired colorways. Other photos show historical textiles and museum artefacts with patterns that were adapted for the projects. Numerous pages show christening caps for babies. Poetry is also presented, both in Norwegian and English translation. The publisher presents patterns in a colored grid rather than a conventional black and white graph. Less than half the book shows knitting patterns and garment construction. These sweaters shown would be fun to construct, but perhaps not actually wearable dut to their flashy colors and horse blanket-size patterns (except for one monochrome exception). |
