About the Author

Grace Cavalieri is the author of fourteen collections of poetry, including children's books. Her plays include off-Broadway productions. She's also written texts and lyrics performed for opera, television, and film. Grace teaches poetry workshops throughout the country at numerous colleges. She produced and hosted "The Poet and the Poem," weekly, on WPFW-FM (1977-1997) presenting 2,000 poets to the nation. She now presents this series to public radio from the Library of Congress via NPR satellite. Grace has received the Pen-Fiction Award, the Allen Ginsberg Poetry Award, The Corporation for Public Broadcasting Silver Medal, and awards from the National Commission on Working Women, the WV Commission on Women, the American Association of University Women, and more. She writes full-time in Annapolis, Maryland, where she lives with her husband, sculptor Kenneth Flynn. They have four grown daughters. Sabine Pascarelli lives in Tuscany with her husband and two sons. She grew up in Germany where she earned a degree in German language and literature at Dortmund University. She is an author of children's literature and has won a fiction award from La Spezia, Italy. Her most recent book is Glenscheck & Co. Pascarelli has published her poems in various anthologies in both Italian and English. As a translator of English, Italian, and German, she currently translates for the historic resort Montegufoni in Montagnana.

Grace Cavalieri is the author of several books, chapbooks of poetry; and 23 staged plays. She's written texts for two produced operas. She founded "The Poet and the Poem" on public radio, and now produces the series from the Library of Congress, in its 34th year on-air. Grace's community work on radio holds the CPB Silver Medal. Her book Anna Nicole:Poems (Goss 183:: Casa Menendez) holds The 2009 Paterson Award for Literary Excellence. Her 2004 book What I Would Do For Love: Poems in the Voice of Mary Wollstonecraft (1759-1797) won a Paterson Poetry Prize. Her play based on this book, "Hyena in Petticoats," received its premiere reading at NYC Public Library, 2007. Her play "Quilting the Sun" was presented at the Smithsonian in 2005, and received its world premiere production, 2007, Centre Stage, S.C. It received a key to the city of Greensville for the play's depiction of ex-slave quiltmaker Harriet Powers. Cavalieri's last collection of poems, Water on the Sun (2006) won the Bordighera Poetry Award and was listed on Pen Center's Best Books of 2006 List.Grace is a poetry columnist for MiPOradio.
