Political cartoons on the Comics Page,
By
This review is from: Pogo's Body politic (A Fireside book) (Paperback)
This volume was printed posthumously by Selby Kelly and contains a collection of the more politically-charged sequences from Walt Kelly's 1970, '71, and '72 Pogo strip. By this point Kelly's intricate inking has reached its climax, with stunning swamp panoramas in the backgrounds of what I personally find to be somewhat overly-serious comic foregrounds. I personally find that by this period Kelly's humor and charm were fading, a trend aggravated in this collection by selecting for political satire instead of comic entertainment. Even so it is not without Pogo's typical intricate goofiness and did earn a few solid laughs.

This review is from: Pogo's Body politic (A Fireside book) (Paperback)
This is a brief recap of other Kelly work. There are several other better, cheaper, larger books that do this, often with much additional information. The printing is not brilliant, there are a few pages where it's an effort to read the text. This is only for collectors, has no value to anyone else.
