1.0 out of 5 stars For your information, August 17, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Patchouli (Kitchen)
Amazon does not permit a response to a seller's comments that appear in response to original feedback so this is the only avenue for commenting on a seller's statements. I left negative feedback regarding my purchase of two patchouli plants from this seller based solely on my experience with the plants sent. The seller says the plants are from the same "mother plant" as many other patchouli plants he/she has shipped without complaint and says that I must just be a chronic complainer. To the contrary, I am quick to praise and praise mightily all transactions that go well and go out of my way NOT to complain. In fact, what the seller makes a snide remark about is an example of my trying to give the seller the benefit of the doubt: this order was placed in late May and my feedback was written in mid-August. That is true and the reason for that is that I gave the plant time to grow and develop and, I hoped, to become scented patchouli! It was an attempt to be "generous" to the seller. I had no expectation of a refund since this seller makes it clear that no refunds are given for any reason. After I received these plants and they were early established - with no scent - I wrote to the seller inquiring if it was possible for a mistake to have been made and said that there was no patchouli scent. The seller said that was not possible. I accepted that answer - what else could I do - and just continued to wait and see if the plant developed patchouli scent. It never did. None. It is just a green plant with no scent other than "green plant". I have grown patchouli in the past and my experience has been that it grows large and lush and has wonderful scent. That was not the case with this plant. So the seller left a snide and unkind response to my feedback because apparently not only am I to accept that a non-scented plant is supposed to be the rich-scented patchouli - which it is not - and accept that there will be no refunds for any reason, which I accepted, but I am to leave positive, glowing feedback for this experience. I think this seller has revealed his/her true colors with this shipment, with his/her response to my first inquiry and then with the feedback left for an otherwise kind buyer. Some Amazon sellers are stellar, exemplary sellers when it comes to customer service and some are not. I wish the patchouli plants smelled of the beloved patchouli scent; they do not. I wish the seller had a nicer attitude; they do not. The seller referred to me as "he" but I am "she". My family orders from Amazon so there are several of us who order and the person responsible for the order is the one to leave feedback. This was a very rare unpleasant Amazon transaction but fortunately it is the exception to the rule. Most sellers are decent and courteous. As a lover of patchouli, I will have to look elsewhere for good plants that actually do what one buys patchouli plants for: smell like patchouli! No one in my entire household could ever catch even the slightest whiff of patchouli from these plants so many noses tried and could not corroborate what the seller claims. There is nothing else to be said on this subject and no reason to argue with an unpleasant seller. We have a difference of opinion and I believe that my opinion of a product I purchased from a seller is the more important one when it comes to leaving feedback about the entire experience. I stand to gain NOTHING from this other than to let others know that this one purchase of patchouli plants from this seller was not a favorable one. I could lie about that to please this seller, but instead I have left my statement and have chalked up the loss of the cost and time to experience.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not What It Claims To Be..., September 22, 2007

I was apprehensive in ordering this item after reading a review from a previous customer. The reviewer stated it was not a patchouli plant, but at the nominal price, I decided to check it out for myself. I have to agree with the previous review--THIS IS NOT A PATCHOULI PLANT! Granted, I am not a botanical expert, or even well-versed in botanical plant names, however the seller's representation that this plant's essential oils are used for perfumes and incense, would lead me to believe that this is the plant I'm seeking. Let me assure you this is NOT an arromatic patchouli plant...I guess I'll just keep searching...and "good luck" to anyone else on the same quest. Should anyone find this elusive specimen, I would greatly appreciate knowing your successful source.
