Offical Chemical Indeed!,

Yikes! Normally stuff that is the addictive is either a) illegal or comes with some sort of warning on it. You know when I first decided I was gonna but this CD, I wasnt sure if it was going to be worth it. I mean granted Cyclone is an excellent song and all but what about all the electronica(which makes up 99.9 percent of the album). Well after listening to the album through several times(and this is no short album, clocking over 70 minutes), I have come to the conclusion that this album is worth every single ounce of money I put into it. From its excellent production, to just about every quality of the album.I think the first thing that caught my attention was the variety of influences that are going into this recording. With electronica, normally you just get that pumping sound that is all too common amongst electronica. Dub Pistols fall only into that catagory because the have that sound, but so much more. There's a little bit of everything in this recording. I mean you got: regge, hip hop, funk, a little punk, and even some ska. The only other band who can pull off a hybrid recording like that that I can think of is Soul Coughing. So there is deffenatly a uniqueness to this CD. And is very much welcome since Europe is known for having lots of electronica that sounds the same. And even for a electronica recording, there is still a craftmanship quality that is normally unseen on albums. The beats and sampling are done not only really well and tasteful, but recognizable as well. They have done a couple of calabration songs that I have picked up and immediatly without vocals, I could tell that it was them. Not something you can do with your everyday electronica, now is it? The vocals(or rapping more a appropiately) in this album are actually quite good. There is great flow and never feels out of place to the music. While there are only 3 real vocal tracks on here, they deffenatly stand out(although currently, Towerblock Trash is my favorite song. I love the horns on the song). So is there really anything I can complain about.... The only thing that I feel kinda bothers me is that there is very little subtlty to the album. Sometimes you get an album were you go "Hey! I never noticed that before." Here is not the case. But thats more of a music genre complaint than band complaint. UK may not be known for having some of the best bands in the world but I truly feel that this is an act that stands out above alot of other bands. Heck, I think this stuff has some sounds that rival some of today's current music. But thats just me....

This CD has become one of my new favorites! I never heard of them until I heard Unique Freak on one of our music channels. The whole CD is great.
