Fortunately, this is one documentary that does give us what ballet documentary lovers want: rehearsing and dancing. We follow the experiences of several contestants in ballet, modern, jazz, flamenco and tap, but most of the time seems to be devoted to ballet. There are also plenty of sessions with teachers and judges, as well as company directors looking for new talent. The style is very professional and exciting to watch. The only negatives are the image quality which is good but not great, and the aspect ratio is the old one: 4:3, so either you will view it with bars on the sides, or, as I do, just stretch it(I am so used to the stretch that my brain automatically adjusts and I hardly notice it!), unless you still have an old TV set.
Highly recommended for those who enjoy ballet documentaries and a variety of dancing styles.

This is a wonderful documentary on ballet and dancing. I love what you learn from the various teachers and their diverse cultures. This is a fantastic film that gives a fresh perspective to our daily dancing and how we can view it.

Fantastic look into personal lives and struggles of "regular" dance students- I wish I understood Portuguese. I enjoyed the dancing and the "look behind the scenes"
