5.0 out of 5 stars great help
my husband and I just got back from Eastern Europe and let me tell you, we were VERY glad to have Point It with us. He teased me when I bought it but did he change his mind when he found out how useful it was as we were driving around looking for gas and the bank, not to mention getting the right thing when you order a drink in a bar. Also saves you the trouble of having...

3.0 out of 5 stars I prefer it over the "wordless travel book"..
I couldn't decide between Point it and the Wordless Travel Book so I bought both. At first I liked the abstract pictures in the wordless travel book more and thought the real pictures in Point it were too confusing to look at and absorb immediately to locate items. This makes it difficult for the receiver to identify the picture quickly as well. Wordless has cartoons tht...

He teased me when I bought it but did he change his mind when he found out how useful it was as we were driving around looking for gas and the bank, not to mention getting the right thing when you order a drink in a bar. Also saves you the trouble of having to learn off all those hard to pronounce words that you forget anyway.

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific idea, I absolutely love this book, January 27, 2005
This review is from: Point It: Traveller's Language Kit (English, Spanish, French and German Edition) (Paperback)
Wish I had this years ago when I was gesturing in restaurants and getting some unrecognisable results. It is really a great help wherever language is a barrier and has a very wide variety of conversation possibilities, from shopping and eating to color charts and those dreaded parking and police problems. etc. .. It is also lightweight and easy to carry in a pocket so one does not look like the gaping tourist.

5.0 out of 5 stars Small and Powerful, September 13, 2005
This review is from: Point It: Traveller's Language Kit (English, Spanish, French and German Edition) (Paperback)
This book is small enough to carry in any pocket. The pictures are all photographs, so no problems with hard to interpret drawings. They show many variations on common items. For instance, it includes pictures of many types of sanitary fixtures, making it easy to point to the kind in the country you are visiting.
I hope it's not out of print...

4.0 out of 5 stars Compact & thorough, September 19, 2008
By
This review is from: Point It: Traveller's Language Kit (English, Spanish, French and German Edition) (Paperback)
This booklet measure approx. 5" x 4" & is 64 pages long. It contains 4 major catagories: Food, Hotel, Transportation, & Shopping-Entertainment. In the back there are maps of the world, & continents. There is even a page of human anatomy (inside & out) so if you're sick you can point where. There are pictures of virtually everything the normal traveller would want -laundermat, iron, bank, tailor, fruits & veggie pics, catsup, stamps etc! And for the not so normal traveller, how about snow chains, snakes, rickshaw, or ear plugs? This books provides peace of mind. I'm buying another as a gift!

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't Leave Home Without It, October 28, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Point It: Traveller's Language Kit (English, Spanish, French and German Edition) (Paperback)
An essential travel companion, especially when you don't speak the language. So simple; now that I have a copy, I can't believe no one thought of this years ago.
But find this book in museum gift shops for the suggested [], and don't get ripped off at this outrageous price.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Real Help, August 8, 2005
This review is from: Point It: Traveller's Language Kit (English, Spanish, French and German Edition) (Paperback)
I travel quite a lot. I don't always have the most essential words for comfort and hygiene. This little booklet was useful in many places around the world. In Japan it saved my life! Recommend it very highly for all travellers, tourist and business people alike.

5.0 out of 5 stars massively useful!, December 21, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Point It: Traveller's Language Kit (English, Spanish, French and German Edition) (Paperback)
This is such a great little book! Perfect for travelling in Asia. It also is a GREAT tool to teach vocabulary to young children, and expose them to things that are out there in the world. Every young child should have one of these. Great for learning new languages, too.

Point It was used in China when we dealt with a Chinese speaking acupuncturist. The diagrams of the human body's internal structure were helpful in explaining where "it hurts" far better than our hand signals.

China's different dialects and intonation can create a problem with pronunciation. If you have a food allergy, don't depend upon your Chinese guide to always be screening the foods for you (mine didn't). My pronunciation of the words for lobster and shrimp didn't work for most of our food servers but showing them the Point It pictures, in most cases, helped.

5.0 out of 5 stars Point It, March 4, 2000
This review is from: Point It: Traveller's Language Kit (English, Spanish, French and German Edition) (Paperback)
I have studied Italian for 5 years. But I bought Point It and am using it to work with an Italian instructor to test my language translating skills because it is so comprehensive. It's my "visual vocabulary and traveler's situation" guide. My husband and I will also use it when we travel around Turkey and Greece by car.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very useful for overseas travel, July 12, 2008
This review is from: Point It: Traveller's Language Kit (English, Spanish, French and German Edition) (Paperback)
Whether you'd like your room to have a double bed with a western-style toilet, you need a new camera battery or want to have a whiskey on the rocks, you can avoid any linguistic barriers by pointing at what you desire, from the over 1000 items in the photos. Highly recommended, tucks easily into a pocket.
