5.0 out of 5 stars The authority on pointing Labradors
This book took me from not knowing anything about the breed and what made the difference in pointing labs, to well rounded and having a foundation to learn so much more about these amazing dogs. The Knutsons really have done it right with this book, they go from prior to purchising the dog, all the way to the finnished lab. If you are intrested in this type of dog I...

1.0 out of 5 stars Disapointment in the publisher
We have ordered this book twice since April of 2007. Both times the publisher and Amazon have canceled our order due to the book not being available after waiting approximately 8 weeks for delivery. It's truly been a disapointment. Maybe we will get the book before our dog turns 10! He's currently 10 months old and fortunately with a very good trainer right now. The...

5.0 out of 5 stars The authority on pointing Labradors, October 14, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: The Pointing Labrador (Paperback)
This book took me from not knowing anything about the breed and what made the difference in pointing labs, to well rounded and having a foundation to learn so much more about these amazing dogs. The Knutsons really have done it right with this book, they go from prior to purchising the dog, all the way to the finnished lab. If you are intrested in this type of dog I suggest you make sure the dog has some good pointers in its breed, and it is not an average lab from the classified ads. If you want a dog that can do upland as good or better then the common pointing dogs, and can also go get that duck in the middle of the pond, this is the book. I have never seen a book cover so much and make it so easy for the reader to understand and do, if you want an outstanding pointing lab, buy this book before you buy your dog.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Pointing Labrador, October 25, 2005
This review is from: The Pointing Labrador (Paperback)
This is a no nonsense, practical guide to a very special type of dog, the Pointing Labrador. The book is written by an expert pointing labrador trainer couple with years of experience which they are willing to line out in their book for the average pointing lab owner. Starting with how to pick a puppy, beautiful pictures, to tips on practically everything involved with the rearing and training of this very special breed of dog. Very well written, easy to pick up and read about certain topics of interest, enjoyable and not too wordy or complicated. The emphasis in this book reinforces the idea that the training process can be fun for you and the dog, very positive.

5.0 out of 5 stars Remember the internet in 1995?, May 15, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: The Pointing Labrador (Paperback)
A lot of old Labrador hands are scoffing at the notion of a Labrador that is also a staunch pointer. Remember the internet in 1995? No one believed it was possible, either. Get ready for the next wave in Labradors--pointing Labs. It's the real deal, and Paul and Julie are the best in the business at training pointing Labs. They've titled more pointing Labs than all the rest of the trainers combined, including this year's National Hunting Dog Association Overall National Champion. Rex Eaves' "Harley" beat out over 250 dogs--flushers, pointers, and retrievers--to win the national title. (He was trained by the Knutsons and his photo is in the center of the book, on a goose hunt.)

5.0 out of 5 stars The Bible for training pointing Labs!, April 18, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: The Pointing Labrador (Paperback)
What a nice book. Paul and Julie Knutson have written a great book that emphasizes training the pointing Lab as an all-around hunting dog. The text is factual and clear, but there's also a lot of thought and careful observation on what works and what doesn't. It's easy to tell that the authors really love their Labs and want to train them to the highest level of their ability. For anyone who has a pointing Lab, this is the Bible for training those dogs!

This is a must for anyone interested in a pointing lab. The book is great for those who know nothing, aswell as for those who know everything about pointing labs. The book is very easy to read and understand and provides simple but effective techniques to work with labs.

I bought this book to learn about the breed and training required for them. What I got was a detailed lesson on training any breed of dog. This book really breaks down the training process and helps you understand how a dog thinks. Once you read this book, the light will come on and you'll feel more assured when training you dog.

Direct, easy to understand, effective and rewarding.
Over and over the message is reminded to 'KEEP THINGS SIMPLE' when training a dog. The authors are mindful to keep things simple as they work to train their readers.
This book is wonderful.
If you appreciate Wolters...you will fall in love with Knutson.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best pointing Lab book, September 23, 2005
This review is from: The Pointing Labrador (Paperback)
This book could be used for non pointing labs as well pointing labs, but if you really have or want to have a pointing lab this is the one and only book to get. I was at a recent trial where Julie was handling 15 different dogs. They not only wrote the book but practice what they have written and it shows when you watch dogs that they have trained
