Groups, teams, and other new ways of working together have become commonplace in today's organizations. In spite of all of these changes, one element remains the same: the basic building block of all work activities is the individual employee. Points of Influence helps coach managers, team leaders, and trainers to gain a better understanding of employee motivation and how they can influence behavior, increase their own personal self-awareness, and expand their managerial skills.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"Those of us who work on organization change have a wealth of resources to understand the group and system levels of the organization. With Points of Influence, Morley Segal gives us the critical third piece--a comprehensive review of personality theory against the backdrop of organization practice. Finally, there is a practical guide to the individual level of our work. It is an invaluable addition to our understanding of organization change." --June Delano, director, organization change & development, Eastman Kodak Company

From the Inside Flap

Gain a better understanding of human behavior, expand your managerial skills, and increase your own self-awareness. This book shows how the personality theories touted by Freud, Jung and Skinner can be used to influence behavior in the workplace.

5.0 out of 5 stars Points of Influence:A Guide to Using Personality Theory at Work, January 21, 2007
This review is from: Points of Influence: A Guide to Using Personality Theory at Work (Jossey-Bass Business & Management) (Hardcover)
This is an excellent field guide for those of us in the field who are management practitioners. It is clear from reading this book that Segal has taken his years of study and professional experience, and from all appearances, his own genius mind, and given us a document that is managable for managers. This book is well written with a design that makes it an effective tool for the busy professional. When was the last time you picked up a book that was both mentally stimulating and gave you something to apply in the workplace? Well, this book does just that. Carolyn Shilling Gill, DMin
