Book Description

Available for the first time in the U.S., this retelling of “The Regatta Mystery” features Hercule Poirot at his finest. A diamond merchant and his party step off their yacht to enjoy the festivities at shore. But when the youngest member of the party, Eve Leathern, decides to play a trick with a £30,000 diamond named The Morning Star, the fun suddenly escalates into a dramatic jewel theft. The most suspected member of the party begs Hercule Poirot to solve the disappearance of the valuable gem, pleading that he is not the thief. But if he isn’t, who is?

Magnificent jewel disappears from a locked room under the very eyes of those watching. Only possible explanation is, of course, not the correct one, but it looks very bad for one of the dinner guests until Mr. Poirot arrives to save the day, corral the bad guys and return the gem to it's rightful owner. You will be surprised at the denoument. Enjoy! It's wonderful to be able to get these little short
stories from Agatha Christie when one wants to just have a quick, fun read. Bravo Amazon!

2.0 out of 5 stars Christie cheated January 1, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
This was not one of Christie's best. Poirot does practically no detective work in this one; he just automatically knows the solution as soon as he hears of the case for the first time. What's worse, Christie cheats the reader by altering a key detail halfway through the story. For a better Poirot short story, I would recommend The Adventure of Little Johnny Waverley.

A must read! Agatha Christie is in a class of her own. Hercule Poirot is my favorite character. I read Poirot over and over.

3.0 out of 5 stars Ok, but not best work May 8, 2012
By Kelsey
Format:Kindle Edition
This is a very short Poirot story. I did not enjoy it as much as his other stories--the narration was peculiar and there was not enough of Poirot's usual witticism. Poirot is wonderful, but it would be better to find him elsewhere, where his talents really show. You should use your dollar to invest in a different Poirot short story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love Poirot! June 8, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This was a quick book. The story line flew by me while I was reading it.
This was a little disappointing, I am use to Poirot at the scene solving the crime not sitting at his office telling his client what happened and no one goes to jail for it.
But it was solved for the person reading the story. Not how he solved it but that he solved.

4.0 out of 5 stars Poirot and the Regatta Mystery June 6, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I never tire of reading and rereading Ms. Christie, especially the exploits of Hercule Poirot. This was pulled from a list of published short stories and was a very quick read. This particular caper seems to be old hand for our Belgium deceive and he makes short work of solving the mystery of the lost jewel.

3.0 out of 5 stars For Christie Fans, a canapé, with a spot of tea May 12, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Poirot is charming, the mystery not so much. But a pleasant enough way to waste 30 minutes. That's all I got, Amazon.

4.0 out of 5 stars it is a very entertaining story but all too brief
It will be a delight for Poirot fans. The ruse is difficult to guess and Poirot's resolution is a creative expose of his insights and imagination.

3.0 out of 5 stars too short, too simple
Fun quick read. Not enough of Poirot working it out. One feels cheated by the solution. Still, good enough for most
