4.0 out of 5 stars Out of the ashes of AM Steel! ...
Well, first off I was a big fan of this band's last work, Jagged Thoughts, and while I initially reviewed it with a little too much gusto, I stand by my feelings that they have the potential to be a great, influential band. These guys are simply wonderful musicians and have a great understanding of how to construct a song.

2.0 out of 5 stars lookout! did it again
when i first heard this album i was a little skeptical, even though its a little different from most lookout releases (especially older ones, but the newer ones too) with the spacey sounds and such, its still a solid album, full of good bass lines and the lyrics are well written. theres worse albums out there, but theres better too. 2 stars.

Well, first off I was a big fan of this band's last work, Jagged Thoughts, and while I initially reviewed it with a little too much gusto, I stand by my feelings that they have the potential to be a great, influential band. These guys are simply wonderful musicians and have a great understanding of how to construct a song.

Those who expect anything similar to American steel will be somewhat disapointed. Well, depending on your ... willingness to deal with different types of music, disappointment will range from this afformentioned category. Instead of hardcore punk / ska to rocksteady / to emo ... this record does not fit in any of those categories. It would be best compared to 80's disco rock but eludes any explicit genre.

The components of the songs all line up very smoothly and from a technical standpoint these guys are very tight.

I won't do a track by track analysis but 'Oujia Me' 'Evaporate and 'Perfect Weapon' are some of the best tracks. 'Black Curses' almost sounds like something one would find on Jagged Thoughts ocassionally, but more or less all of the songs on this cd are very strong to amazing.

I feel that I will be listening to this record for a long time and am anxiously awaiting anymore releases from this now very well established and well respected group of musicians.

Communique proves to be the leader in the new sounds of Lookout! Records. I'm a long time Lookout! fan, and was skeptical of the all the bands but it as it turns out, originality is still kicking with bands like Communique. Poison Arrows has a real fresh sound, I just got the cd recently but I know i'll be listening to it a lot.

The new Communique cd, from what I've heard so far, is simply amazing! Every song has it's own feel, and life in it. Perfect Weapon is a masterpiece that no one should be without hearing! I give this record 5/5, and if you have yet to check this band out, what are you waiting for?

Communique are a band of rockin' soldiers here to liberate you from your Top 40 shackles. Their first full-length album brings you the energy of their whirling live shows. "Best Lies" kicks it off and the punches never stop coming. My personal favorite song off the album is "Perfect Weapon" which could be the soundtrack to your summer.
Definitely recommend this album, and definitely recommend their live show when they come to your town.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wait a tic... I'm Intercepting a COMMUNIQUE!, July 21, 2005
This review is from: Poison Arrows (Audio CD)
"Poison Arrows" picks up right where the Cresent Honeymoon EP (also on lookout!) left off and continues the progression that these guys have been going along ever since American Steel's "Jagged Thoughts"... These amazing retro-pop songs are by far the best I've heard from this genre, far exceeding the efforts of Franz Whatstheirname, and The [insert hip sounding noun here].... Communique has come a long way since their American Steel days, but lucky for them they've gone a long way down the right path!
