Book Description

November 1, 1982
From the work of Rachel Carson to the nightmare of Love Canal, many people have become aware that our world is being poisoned and that cancer is spreading, epidemic-likem as a principal result. But what people have not become sufficiently aware of is that virtually nothing is being done to stop the poisoning.

Government protection is a sham because the merchandising of poison has become a powerful institution and business. Karl Grossman, an award-winning investigative reporter, demonstrates why this is occurring using document from industry and government, many obtained under the Freedom of Information Act, and with both the testimony of whistle-blowers on the inside and many of the Poison Conspiracy's victims.

The Poison conspiracy explains why the chemical horror stories continue to be with us - indeed are increasingly with us - taking their toll in massive illness and death. With solid investigative skills it shows how the government agencies which are supposed to protect us from poisons fail to do so; how these government agencies have been co-opted by those very industires they are supposed to regulate. The Poison Conspiracy documents how our health and our lives are not being guarded.

More affirmatively, The Poison Conspiracy details the abundant alternatives to dirtying our nest, spreading toxins, and poisoning the planet. Grossman shows that none of this reckless pollution is necessary other than for the profit and power of those institutions and people involved in it.

This hard-hitting expose scrutinizes the politics of poison, names those responsible, and documents the present effects of this folly and those calamities yet to come unless a halt is called. The Poison Conspiracy is a plea for action; a call for the poisoning to stop.
