Awesome DVD!,
By
This review is from: Poison - Greatest Video Hits (DVD)
This is an awesome DVD from one of the best bands ever. The only 80's band that could beat Poison was Motley Crue, and not by that much. This DVD features all of their videos. There is also behind the scenes footage in between each video. The first eight videos are from an old video called "Sight For Sore Ears".This features the videos "Cry Tough","I Want Action","Talk Dirty To Me","I Won't Forget You","Nothin' But A Good Time","Fallen Angel","Every Rose....",and "Your Mama Don't Dance".The second five videos come from an old video called "Flesh,Blood, and Video Tape".This features all of the videos off "Flesh and Blood",which are "Unskinny Bop","Ride The Wind","Something To Believe In","Life Goes On",and "Flesh and Blood(Sacrafice)".The last four videos are the ones made after "Flesh and Blood".These are "So Tell Me Why","Stand","Until You Suffer Some(Fire And Ice)",and "Power To The People".So if you like Poison, buy this, and be sure to check out Motley Crue's Greatest Video Hits also.

Great...........But,

This is a great collection of Poison's videos, however, there are a few things wrong with this DVD. First off, the first four videos, Cry Tough, I Want Action, Talk Dirty To Me, and I Won't Forget You, all have color bars that go on and off at the top of the screen throughout the videos. It's a slight distraction, but not too serious. Second, there is about a half second audio delay on the Nothin' But A Good Time video which is really noticable in the beginning during the dishroom scene. There is also a very slight audio delay on the next video, Fallen Angel, as well. These problems have occured on other people's copies of this DVD and not just mine. Maybe you'll get lucky and get a flawless copy! Just wanted to let everyone know about this before they buy this DVD.

Classic "Hair Material" At Its Finest...,

I've been a fan of Poison since the beginning. Even though I was considered "an ankle biter" at the start, they have always continued to amaze me. Through the ups and downs, I have always followed the great music that they distributed. Unlike a lot of bands who only write about true love and sappy subjects, Poison have spanned the globe and wrote about so much more. This DVD pays tribute to what they have written about....since the beginning....in video format. This DVD is truly a real treat that any music buff can sit back and enjoy watching. It is essentially a combination of Poison's prior VHS releases, with a few added bonuses. The retro interview footage is a nice treat. But the videos themselves are the best part of the DVD, especially with the enhanced sound quality. Fans get to see "Cry Tough," "Unskinny Bop," "Ride the Wind," "Something To Believe In," "Fallen Angel," and of course "I Won't Forget You," in addition to all the rest. In terms of the '3 unreleased commercially' videos, they are special too. As weird as it may sound, "Stand" and "So Tell Me Why" two of the three, I have seen on the local music channel about a decade ago, when the first came out! Even the newest vid "Power To The People," one I haven't seen is a great song, and truly showcases that Poison has still got what it takes in an industry dominated by Pop-Music-Acts. I would say that any 80's fan would love this disc, and those with selected tastes of today borrow before buying. All in all, to all the Poisonites out there, purchase, play, and pound the speakers watching this gem of 80's nostalgia.

I don't even own any Poison CDs and never was a fan, but I really like this DVD!! It ROCKS in a rock and GLAM kinda way and it's fun to watch the group looking all *1980's* - I put this on when I don't want to think and I just want to have my mood lifted. It's fun and some day I may even buy one of their CDs!! They were a pretty good band! But the visuals make them even better!

Glam bands. For all the big hair, girly makeup, and flash - at least they were about good times, good friends, girls, sex, drugs, and rock n roll. This DVD has a few production problems. As mentioned the sync between audio and video slips a little at times. At others times the video is grainy and faded, then snaps back into DVD quality. However it includes the full videos from all past Poison music video compilations as far as I can tell. The extras alone are worth the price. I never saw the "So Tell Me Why," video, which also seems to have been made when the band broke up initially because Bret is pretty much the only new footage. The footage of the band together again after 2000 is pretty funny as well and worth a look. If you have a few favorite songs like "Talk Dirty to Me," "Every Rose," "Fallen Angel," "Nothin' but a Good Time," "Ride the Wind," or just want a digital copy of music from when you were younger with all the good associated memories...I highly recommend this DVD. The music these guys delivered and their live show was always top notch.

Great to get away, but it's the "same old' same old',

I was SO excited to get my hands on a Poison DVD. My favorite 80s band is still trucking away even though most people have turned their backs on them in exchange for the dark grunge of the 1990s and now the better-than-the-grunge music of the MilenniumThis DVD puts together their "Sight For Sore Ears" and "Flesh, Blood and Videotape" video cassettes released in the late 80s and early 90s, and adds a few newer videos, including "Power to the People." It was nice to see the old video tapes put on a DVD, so I don't destroy the old tapes by playing them too much (and yes, that is possible for me to do). I was disappointed, however, by the lack of new footage. All of the interviews were conducted in the late 80s and early 90s, with nothing new. Also, some of the video and sound tracks did not match, which was distracting. Poison needs a new injection of creativity in the realm of cover art, as well. They keep rehashing this dapper skull and rose theme, and that, my friends is getting old. What happened to the days of covers that were so great they had to be censored? I am looking foreward to the day they release a concert on DVD. They promised a video for "Swallow This Live," and it never happened. I hope it does soon. This doesn't at all deminish my love for the best 80's hair band ever. I don't want this review to sound like I hate it. I was just hoping for something more (but who doesn't always want more?).I've had a Poison CD of some sort continually in my CD changer for the past six years, non-stop...a dedicated fan. This DVD still is well worth the money. Rock on.

Good songs, but technical problems plague this DVD.,

First off, I just want to say that I am a big Poison fan. Buying this video, I thought I knew just what I was getting. However, this is not the case. All of the great videos are included on this DVD, but it is eaten up with technical problems. For about the first half of the DVD, color bars pop in and out of the screen. This is very distracting! Also, the audio is not in sync with the video on several songs with a split second delay. This is also a very anoying problem. This is problably the most technical problems I have ever seen on a DVD and I have seen a bunch of DVDs. If you want this DVD, I would hold off for a while and maybe the problems will be fixed.

Still Got Something Inside,
By LI,YUNG-TI (Tainan, Taiwan) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Poison - Greatest Video Hits (DVD)
This DVD rules. As many people metioned about this DVD,these are old music videos, some of the video and sound tracks did not match, and all lack of new footage. But check this out, there is a "POISON WORLD TOUR HIGHLIGHTS 1999-2000" video clip you might not found in the "BONUS VIDEOS". Just use your remote and enter the BONUS VIDEOS menu, then press "7",or make the skull highlighted and press enter. You can see there's a four-minute vedio clip of POISON's concert last year. Though it's just a short video clip, but you can see how POISON's back on stage and their live performance is still awesome. This should be qualified as "new footage" I guess, and I think it's worth of anything. Hope we can have POISON's concert DVD soon!!!! By the way, if you play this DVD with PC not DVD player, the video and sound synch problem will gone. It's weired, but that's how it works.
