Product Description

The quiet home of a suburban family is suddenly destroyed when Ivy's beautiful but evil sister Violet returns to her childhood home and shatters the life of her former best friend Joy. Using her sexuality as a weapon she seduces both Joy's father and fiancee. No deception is too treacherous no seduction too dangerous and no crime too heinous for this twisted temptress whose young life was torn apart by an ill-fated affair between her mother and Joy's father. Poison Ivy 3: The New seduction is a steamy pulse-pounding erotic thriller and continues the same provocative and chilling tradition of Poison Ivy and Poison Ivy 2: Lily. Year: 1997 Director: Kurt Voss Starring: Michael Des Barres Megan Edwards Greg Vaughn Susan Tyrrell Jamie Pressly Athena MasseyRunning Time: 93 min.Format: DVD MOVIE Genre: DRAMA UPC: 794043484827

Joel Silver (48 Hours, Die Hard, The Matrix) has a theory about action movies--you need a good bang-up scene about every 10 minutes. The people who made The New Seduction operate on the same principle, only instead of car chases and explosions, the curvaceous Jaime Pressly takes her clothes off and then, more likely than not, has sex with someone. If Seduction had been made 60 years ago at Warner Brothers, nobody would have gotten naked, but otherwise this gleefully trashy bit of film noir would have fit right in. The plot's a reworking of the original; this time, Ivy's sister Violet returns after 11 years to wreak havoc on the family that turned her mother (the family maid) out onto the street for sleeping with the man of the house. Pressly brings both a smoldering energy and sense of fun to her very-bad-girl part. As the lonely daughter who was Violet's best friend, Megan Edwards is both appealing and strong enough to avoid being simpy. While this movie lacks the relative subtlety of the original, it's a whole lot more fun than the morose first sequel, Poison Ivy 2. --Geof Miller

4.0 out of 5 stars Plot? Who needs it! February 5, 2001
Back in the mid 90's, Thursday nights were the official start of the weekend, and we would invariably start with a "group acceptable" movie and a few cocktails at someone's apartment, before invariably heading out into the night. I put "group acceptable" in parenthesis, because "acceptable" was a bit of a misnomer; the only movies that everyone agreed upon were non-plot driven flicks with semi-starlets, who, thankfully enough, were kind enough to appear sans clothing at various times during the course of the show. This movie was one of the last we saw before switching over to Antiques Roadshow (don't ask), and eventually disbanding. I decided to review this movie because now, 4 short years later, I have become fairly domesticated (as has everyone else), and drinking on Thursday's has become a fond, albeit hazy memory from the past, and I want to do my part to ensure that this great piece of cinema is not dismissed as just one more piece of exploitative, late-night HBO soft-core filler that it appears to be.

To hold this movie to the same standards as a regular movie would be a disservice to it, and I think it should be rated against other movies of its genre:

1) Nudity - 5 Stars - What can I say except for bravo. Veteran B-movie writer Karen Kelly has managed to create a plot where nude scenes seamlessly flow into each other, and actually kind of make sense. One constantly expects Ron Jeremy to make a quick cameo; the quality is that good.

2) Starlet Quality - 1 Star- At the time of this movie Jaime Pressly had only one previous acting role (playing the pre-teen American girl in Mercenary), and the excitement factor knowing she was soon to be nude was just not there.

5.0 out of 5 stars jaime pressly as sexy! December 18, 1999
Format:VHS Tape
Gorgeous, sexy young blonde actress Jaime Pressly plays a dominatrix who takes revenge on her enemies by seducing and killing them. She uses all the tricks - chains, handcuffs, whips, to bring her men to submission and then strikes. Great sexy concept, like Basic INstinct or Body of Evidence. If the idea of an innocent-looking luscious girl tying up, torturing and killing helpless men turns you on, watch this movie!

4.0 out of 5 stars The Best "Poison Ivy" so far. November 7, 1999
By A Customer
Clearly the the most erotic of the "Poison Ivy"movies. Jaime Pressly who plays Violet really takes the movie toanother level. Lets not forget Athena Massey who plays her mother who is also HOT. Megan Edwards played her role well as Joy but dose not show any skin, not that she needed to she was really sexy. The DVD has both the Unrated and R-rated versions and bot fullscreen and widescreen formats, It has no other options like commentary. Buy it if you are a fan of the "Poison Ivy" movies and if you want to see how HOT is Jaime Pressly.
(took off one start 'cuse there is no Commentary)

4.0 out of 5 stars Lighten up! It's just a movie. May 23, 2003
By A Customer
Format:VHS Tape
Let's see. A good hint that any plot you might decipher from this movie (other than T&A) is an obvious afterthought might be the fact that it is "unrated"! Hello! It's 85% sex and nudity! Who needs a "plot"? This isn't just sex and nudity for its own sake either. Well, actually, maybe it is. The naked women are gorgeous and sultry, though. Athena Massey as Rebecca and of course, Jaime Pressly as "grown-up" Violet turn in top-notch performances in the flesh.
In the interest of fairness, the plot is defintely weak but believe it or not, is not as weak the bad reviews here are making it out to be. There have easily been thousands of "naked seductress wreaks havoc on hometown" movies and this one is no better or worse than any of them, story-line wise. But that's not the point. This is not *supposed* to be an intelligent movie. So if you don't get turned on strictly by the hot, barenaked bodies, you're definitely thinking too much and taking the movie entirely too seriously.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jaime Pressly....nuff said May 19, 2002
Format:VHS Tape
Forget the plot. Forget the storyline. The best reason to get this see Jaime Pressly NUDE!!! Not just once. Not just for a couple seconds. You see her NUDE early and often. The script isn't bad to boot which makes this a great movie...

It's not a book but a video and Jaime Pressly is the female lead. A very attractive blonde in what seems to be her first role. It's in the same league as the Shannon Tweed film Scourned and just as flawed from time to time. This is not like Verhoven-Douglas-Stone mega hit, but more an after midnight Showtime/HBO R rated romp. More than a silly excuse for a plot placed between Jaime Pressly taking her clothes off (which she does several times and she's rather hot). Her acting is generally above average. It runs more like a Red Shoes Diary segement than a Love Street segement. Well worth a look if you're into B softcore stuff with more than just a silly plot. END

Poison Ivy: The New Seduction is the third film in the soft-core erotic thriller series that began with the 1992 theatrical release of the first film starring Drew Barrymore and continued with the awful 1995 direct-to-video sequel starring Alyssa Milano.

This third 1997 direct-to-video entry in the pointless series stars a then relative unknown Jaime Pressly (no relation to Elvis) who actually was Drew Barrymore's nude body double in the original movie. She has a nice body and is frequently nude, but trying to make it through this movie is the equivalent of smacking yourself upside the head with the DVD box for 95 minutes straight.

The "plot" (if you can call it that ) involves a young girl named Violet (Jaime Pressly) who moves in with her childhood friend Joy Greer(Megan Edwards) and Joy's wealthy father Ivan (Michael Des Barres). Turns out that Joy and Violet were childhood friends and Joy's parents seperated when her mom found out that her father had an affair. Anyone with a working brain cell knows that Violet intends to take over the house and move in on Joy's father so she can get to his money. Violet is also a hooker and proceeds to try to ruin everyone's lives while trying to get what she wants. At one point she interferes with Joy and her boyfriend by slipping a drug in some punch to knock Joy out for awhile. While she's incapcitated, Violet seduces Joy's boyfriend. She also does her best to flirt with Joy's dad by putting on some of his wive's slinkiest dresses that for some reason still hang in his bedroom closet. The movie culminates with a finale that is as laughable as it is just plain stupid in which Violet ends up holding Joy and some other people as hostages in their own home while she tells them what her true intentions were all along.

We know what's going to happen here and it does. Losing momentum in the franchise and the storyline getting thinner. I don't know that Ivy survived for a 4th chapter or did she?
