Some delightful music. Californian pop singer meets back country folk singer to make some unforgettable music. Very passionate and smooth. It makes me think of the style of Swell Season. Please give it a try. You wont be disappointed.

The mix of Joy William and John Paul White's voices is a love song in itself. The duo make music that is so sweet and tender that it can move you to tears. If you have a chance watch their video and see what you think. Just buy it and listen and go to that special place that is pure. Corny as it sounds.

"I don't love you and I always will" -

When I hear this line and this song I can't help but think of that one that I let get away and what a mess that was anyway.

And, how I'd probably do it all again if I had the chance.

This particular tune has a choral feel to the voices; violins and percussion march the guitar along softly. Definitely one that chokes you up the first time you hear it, not just for the words but for the gorgeous harmonies.

My kind of poison.

the "Barton Hollow" CD may be a better deal, particularly if this is your first sample of their music. See here for the Barton Hollow CD featuring "Poison & Wine" and many other good tunes as well. Also see my review there.

"Achingly beautiful" -- as Kathleen Erwin said in her review here -- is a very apt description of their music in total. If you don't have tears in your eyes after listening to "Poison & Wine" -- then you're not listening.

My son sent me this music over You Tube & after listening to it I instantly bought the CD. There are singers & then there are SINGERS. There are duets & then there are GREAT duets. This is proof of the best. The way they sing together puts me right out in orbit. Beautiful

i've been a fan of Americana music since 1999 when i 1st knew of its existence...and let's just say this duo ranks WAY UP there on my top ten list of ultimate performers and songwriters...i'm officially obsessed with their talent and chemistry...it's oh-so-hard to believe they're not a romantic couple!

Beautiful music with fabulous harmonies.
I hope it's not true they broke up. Would love to see them live. They are both incredibly gifted.

Put side the excellent writing and just focus on the vocals that surpass even the Everely Brothers. On vocal merit alone, this recording outdoes their excellent CD, "Barton Hollow". The writing on this EP is superb, most especially on the title cut, "Poison And Wine", which also made it onto their full-length CD, "Barton Hollow".

I hardily recommend checking them out on You Tube. See if, like me, you don't take him for a dead ringer for Johnny Depp; the resemblance is uncanny. That aside, John Paul White is as good a vocalist as he is an excellent guitarist.

Recent news of the abrupt cancellation of their world tour is truly distressing. We can only hope that whatever brought this on will not prevent them from continuing to record together. In any case, buy this EP, for you may never again hear its like.
