"NOTICE TO PATIENTS: Proposition 65 WARNING: Dental Amalgams, used in many dental fillings, causes exposure to mercury, a chemical known to the State of California to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm."

"Root canal treatment and restorations, including fillings, crowns, and bridges, use chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer."

The above language is from the Notice To Patients pursuant to the requirements of California Proposition 65.

This law requires that certain dental offices give patients a copy of this notice concerning mercury in dental amalgams.

Go to the California Dental Association website, [...], to learn more. The California Dental Association urges dental practitioners to give the above notice to all patients.

Unfortunately, the US Federal Food and Drug Administration still approves all dental restorative materials for use.

This issue will have to be fought on a state by state basis.

I am thankful to be living in California with its more restrictive and higher standards for healthful dentistry practices.

At least for now, in California, the entrenched industry interests and their lobbyists (amalgam manufacturers, American Dental Association, etc.), have not completely succeeded in their continuing fight against having to reduce and/or eliminate the use of poisonous/toxic materials in dentistry.

Despite passage of Proposition 65, this is not a "done deal" because non-mercury usage requires more expense in materials and time and re-training of older/long-time dentistry practitioners.

Hopefully, citizens in other states, with the influential help and support of more enlightened and/or "holisitic" dental practioners, can band together to bring about legislation similar to that in California.

Tom McGuire's book is a good beginning.

HOWEVER, it is up to patients to assert themselves by organizing patient advocacy groups to bring about the changes that will benefit them and their children.

It's about time this information comes to light - it's been covered up way too long. If you ever had any question about the safety of those so-called "silver" fillings in your teeth, read this book. Those "silver" fillings are actually at least 50% mercury - mercury is a known neurotoxin, it's hazardous to your health. Not sure you have them - open your mouth - if you see a gray substance filling your teeth, you have mercury in your mouth. Dentists are required to dispose of any leftover amalgam material via hazardous materials, yet they will tell you once it's placed in the mouth (inches from the brain, eyes, spinal cord), it's perfectly safe. I don't think so! Ever wonder why you can't buy mercurochrome or old-fashioned glass thermometers? They contain mercury! A treatment for cavities could make things worse. "The Poison in Your Teeth: Mercury Amalgam (Silver) Filings... Hazardous to Your Health!" is an exploration of silver fillings and how new medical knowledge reveals that these fillings could prove highly hazardous to one's health. The problem could affect more than one's dental health, spreading mercury through the body. "The Poison in Your Teeth" is well worth the read as a cautionary account for those in need of or who have had dental fillings.

Highly Recomend this book. Very informative.

This book is very informative and well updated. Dr. Tom quite well seems to know about this subject of Mercury Poisoning. The only regret I have, is that I wish that it contained some personal testimonies of people that have had MP and some different outcomes from said various patients. But, regardless, it's a good book to have, if you are a VICTIM of MP, or you know someone who is.

The Poison in Your Teeth by Tom McGuire, DDS is professionaly written about a subject that Dr. McGuire knows first hand as a practicing dentist. It offers support group help and references to other publications which further document how to deal with mercury poisoning of 150 million Americans. Our broad scale mercury poisoning is distributed throughout our entire bodies and lowers our bodies intracellular voltages where our waiting(205)pathogen invasion is enabled to infect us with over 275 chronic diseases. They include ALS, a variety of cancers, HIV AIDS, tuberculosis and many, many more. If one wants to become healthy agin or even remain healthy, get all amalgam fillings safely removed with a full mouth dam and separate air supply while undergoing the procedure. DO NOT HAVE THIS PROCEDURE DONE WHILE PREGNANT!

short and sweet. The metal fillings in your teeth are harming your body and mind. I had 3 metal fillings taken out and did chelation therapy, and lost 10 pounds from a load of metal taken out of my body. I still have 3 crowns that need to be replaced with safe ones. But it has to wait till i can afford to continue this process. Do all your homework, research, read , educate yourself and your family. Metal fillings, vacinations of any kind, and parasites. Get rid of 2 of them and never get a shot for ANYTHING ever again. Knowledge is power . Learn and pass it on.

There is absolutely no scientific evidence that properly done dental amalgam fillings are at all harmful. The author of this book bases his argument on the idea that "absence of evidence" is not evidence of absence. Well, if he knew anything about true science, he would know that, in this case, the null hypothesis is not proved. This book and others like it are shameless infomertials for the authors. The fact that many dentists no longer use dental amalgam is largely because of the nuisance lawsuits that have been filed claiming that dental amalgam causes everything from MS to ingrown toenails.
