This is my five year old daughter's favorite toy! Our whole family played the adventure through together: each player pretends to be a Pokemon trainer traveling to Pewter city, collecting Pokemon along the way. It loosely follows the story-line of the first few cartoon episodes. Children can role-play and add details to the story as they like. They can follow the story, or they can use the cards to make up their own Pokemon battles. I was surprised at how fast my daughter picked up on hit points and attack rolls! I hope that Hasbro will come out with another adventure soon.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fight Team Rocket. Again! Again!, December 31, 1999

This is a fine way to enjoy playing with the Pokemon characters with small children (even my 4 year old), without the complicated trading card rules. The game takes you through a 2-3 hour scripted adventure story with lots of Pokemon battles (sort of a friendlier Dungeons and Dragons for preschoolers) using simplified big print Pokemon character cards. However, keep in mind that small kids like to hear the same story over and over -- which is important because there is only one story in the box and they will expect you to play it again. And again. Hence the durability rating.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great game bites the dust., January 5, 2001

My six year old son and I very much enjoy the 1st episode of the Pokemon Jr. Adventures, Pokemon Emergency. We play this game over and over, and have recently paired it with the electronic Pokedex.

Unfortunately, after correspondence with Wizards of the Coast, the creators of Pokemon, we were informed that due to licensing problems there would be no additional episodes released for Pokemon Jr. Adventures. Therefore, while we have no trouble making up our own stories, it is impossible to acquire the full set of Pokemon Jr. Cards.

All in all this is a wonderful game and for the price is very well worth it, just don't look for episode 2, it's not going to happen.

My daughter is six and she gets a big kick out of this game! It also helps with thinking and counting skills, so I consider it quite educational. I didn't find it too hard to come up with a new story to use with the game.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good start for the more advanced card game, October 12, 2000
= Durability:3.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: POKEMON JR ADVENTURE GAME (Board Game)
My younger cousins got this game for Christmas, which was a blessing, for they wanted to play with my cards. (Keep in mind, little kids (under 8) tend to be sticky... >.<)

The instructions for this card game were much easier to understand, and it made a great stepping stone towards the more advanced Pokémon CCG. Though, to my cousins' dismay, the two games could not be mixed. (They just want to beat the competition with my Mewtwo cards.) The damage and HP are vastly different. The Pokémon Jr. HP rating being lower than the CCG made combining the two games impossible. (Try telling that to three hyperactive children with attention spans three seconds long.)

But, the Pokémon Jr. game is still fun, even for a seasoned CCG player. In fact, I found the Jr. game to be harder. o.O It's still fun, and to play it with a storyline added to the amusement. The CCG doesn't do that. (There's a hint, Wizards of the Coast!)

But, if you have younger children who wish to play the Pokémon card game, yet are too young to understand the complex play and instructions of the CCG, this game's a good head-start. An excellent five stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Reliving the magic..., January 10, 2000

Pokemon Jr. provides an incredibly enjoyable platform for children to interact and have fun within the Pokemon world. The pack is simple to use with bright, colourful character cards with big text and simple rules - for almost any adult providing they have the inclination. The cards could do with being thicker - as my youngest started bending them within moments of them coming to hand.

The adventure is great - and for myself, as a roleplayer, the durability of the product is increased by the fact that I'll happily put further adventures together myself for the future.

Being able to buy additional character cards separately would be useful. A big thumbs up for this one and looking forward to future expansions almost as much as my children.

This game is a great for young children interested in Pokemon. It can excercise their imagination and serve as an outlet for their energy, in a fun battle and adventure game, where kids control the action and equally have the opportunity to win or lose and become Pokemon masters!

This is great! I don't own it, but when I spent the night at my friend's house, we played this game and we loved it. If we lost to Team Rocket, we just battled them until we won.

I love this game! After I finished playing all the episodes, I couldn't wait to get the next one! I was really bummed that Hasbro is not releasing another set. But then, I put my imagination to the test and wrote my own episodes to follow up with the ones in the Story Book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Role Playing simplified enough for the kids, but fun!, April 15, 2001

This game is an excellent RPG system that will give you and your childeren long hours of fun. It's system is very simple to pick up, and easy enough for a five year old to comprehend.

The only downside of the game is the fact that, due to licensing and complaints(assumably from MARP, Mothers Against Role-Playing), Wizards of the Coast has decided to not relese any further supplements. Never fear, parents and older siblings who are the GM( game master, or the "director" of the game)! It's fairly easy to make up more adventures for your children to play through!

An EXCELLENT product, and cheap, too!
