The post adventure strategy guide is only as expansive as the content found in-game after beating it. As such, I'll just list a few things not mentioned in the description to help other potential customers decide if it's worth buying this guide.

The poster included is approximately 30in by 37in, or 58cm by 94cm
The guide explains the functions of Battle Maison
The guide lists all available Pokémon found in Friend Safari
The guide provides the areas where the roaming legendary birds can be found to force them into Sea Spirit's Den
The guide provides ranking information for the Battle Institute
The guide provides extensive information for the Looker sidequest.
The guide has outdated information on the breeding mechanics. (to be discussed below)
The guide provides the locations of the megastones
The guide explains how the Pokéradar works

This strategy guide has the same layout as the previous guide, with an introduction of the new location with a checklist of items and Pokémon obtainable in said area, followed by points of interests worth checking out. Just like the guide before it, it has a list of the egg groups readily available, so there's no need to refer to the previous guide for the information. The guide also gives information on how Pokémon breeding works but it's a tad outdated. The information that is outdated is still correct, but it does not explain that the mechanics have been simplified, making it far easier to breed a Pokémon with the desired traits.

The first half of the guide does its job in assisting the player find all the post-game content while providing tips where applicable.
The second half of the guide, which is the Pokédex, is as informative as it can be.

My disappointment at there only being the 450 Pokemon found in the three sections of the Kalos region pokedex instead of the full 718-721 Pokemon that exist now was something I was willing the put aside when I purchased this guide. However, for something that was released 4 months after the game, I expected in that much time that the writers would have done a good job. I was very disappointed.

The first time I was reading through it, I found that it contains a lot of incorrect information, specifically in the section about breeding Pokemon. Everything in that section pertains to the fifth generation of Pokemon games (Black, White, Black 2, & White 2) and doesn't reflect any of the changes that were made in X and Y. For example, there is no mention of female Pokemon passing on egg moves, it claims TM moves can still be passed on by the male, and it says that hidden abilities can still only be passed on by the female. None of that is true anymore. It's like they just copied and pasted information from a guide for Black and White and didn't bother using the game to help write the guide for it.

It does have a lot of useful information, but it is outweighed by the wrong information and the lack of the other 260+ Pokemon.

As other reviews have probably mentioned, this Pokedex doesn't have all the Pokemon in it, which is annoying considering that's why I bought it! At least the stuff it does have (post-game info, some of the Pokemon) seems complete. The font for the Pokemon information (like TMs, etc) that does exist is also in a really tiny font, and I'm not an old man!

Honestly, I'd just use websites like Serebii . net (look it up) to get any information needed and skip the guide. I'd like to buy a complete guide - unfortunately, this isn't it! I like having all the Pokemon in one book that I can reference!

P.S. the poster is cool. I'll probably keep it for that and the post game information.

From the perspective of a 14 year old boy, I truly believe this book is amazing! It contains information of all the post-game events, including a full step-by-step of the Looker series, and more than enough information on mega evolution and all the stones. The poked is wonderful too. It is based off the 3 Kalos pokedexes (Central, Coastal, and Mountain), so do not expect a full national pokedex. (Contains a little over 450 pokemon). The poked information for the pokemon has also been increased, including specifying the differences between genders for some pokemon, and a full guide to the Vivillon forms, including a world map for where each form is.

Overall, the guide is wonderful, and I fully recommend it to any pokemon fan.

My daughter likes this guide because it helps her find items she didn't realize were there or ones she couldn't find. The type matching charts are also helpful with the changes made in this generation. Only wish it had the national dex and not just the three from Kalos.

First, the guide itself. Fortunately, they released this initially as a soft cover, so it is lighter and easier to flip through than volume #1. However, it is approximately the same size as volume #1 (approx. 5.5 inches wide x 8.5 inches tall x 1 inch deep). It being small might be helpful for those who want to carry it around, but I never found the old guides unwieldy. The covers are the same material as those for the Black and White guides. Also the paper is approximately the same glossy quality. Overall a well put together book.

One nice bonus is the poster which includes images of all the pokemon separated by the section of Kalos in which they can be found. The poster also has pictures of all the Mega Evolutions (at least as far as I can tell).

As for the guide, it is good, but it could be better. At the very least it delivers what it promises. It contains a guide for gameplay for after you enter the Hall of Fame, and it contains the Kalos Region Pokedex. Additionally the guide contains some content I was pleasantly surprised to find (see below).

Here are some of the highlights (and lowlights):
Highlights:
1. There is new information to help you with EV/IVs. There is a chart of the pokemon that raise particular base stats. Volume #1 had the information on Super Training.
(If you aren't familiar with EVs and IVs, you should know that if you get into this aspect of Pokemon it has be potential to take up a lot of time.)
2. Mega Evolutions have their own entries in the Pokedex. Of course, the guide also tells you which pokemon have Mega Evolutions and where and how to get their individual stones.
3. The Pokedex includes more information for easy access. Now you can find the type advantage/disadvantage of all the pokemon in the Pokedex.
