Product Description

Editorial Review

For parents who are feeling in the dark about their child's fascination with Pokémon, the Monopoly Pokémon Edition is just the game to turn on their lights. By joining in this game of traditional Monopoly with a Pokémon twist, parents learn firsthand about the characters and stories of Pokémon. Instead of buying property, houses, and hotels, players collect Poké centers or gyms. Buying a space means catching a Pokémon character. Players who catch all the characters of a color earn the badge for that gym. Playing tokens are Pokémon characters. The board looks much like classic Monopoly, but it features a Pokémon map in its center. "Go To Jail" is still where you'd expect it, so some things never change. --Lee Strucker

5.0 out of 5 stars Educational and Enjoyable...you needn't be a Pokemon expert!, January 5, 2000

Santa brought this for my 7 year old. As a kid I HATED Monopoly and rarely played it. I do not know much about the beloved Pokemon, either, but you don't need to know anything! We just loved this game. The games lasted 4-5 hours and the kids (7&10) sharpen their math skills with money counting and learn how to handle money on an adult level without even knowing it. You can shorten the game...but we never wanted to. It sure doesn't seem like the boring old Monopoly I remember as a kid. My 7 year old still crys when he has to mortgage property or lose a favorite Pokemon due to a competitor rolling double sixes but he always wants to play again! Nice family game!

My 8 year old son bought this game with money that he got for xmas and I ended up giving him half of the money back because after we played it,we all had so much fun we decided it would be a good game for family game night. Now we play it almost on a daily basis with him and he is learning to manage money (as good as you can at 8)and he has fun doing it. Thank You Parker Brothers for making this one.

I think the game is great, its monopoly with a twist of Poke'mon. The spaces are made up of all differn't types grass to fire to water. I love the specials for doubles,so over all I think its the best monopoly game ever
