First of all, Pokemon colosseum will be the first console pokemon game to have a RPG mode. The storyline is a little darker than your usual pokemon games. The story deals with a guy whose main mission is to catch Dark pokemon (Pokemon whose hearts have darken)from trainers and heal them. There are about 40+ catchable pokemon (mostly Gold/Silver). The game is compatible with Ruby/Sapphire/and future titles Fire Red and Leaf Green. Also, the bonus disk that comes with the game includes the secret pokemon character known as Jirachi. One of the coolest features of the game is the ability to catch johto pokemon from colosseum and trade them to your Ruby and Sapphire games. That feature enable the user to breed johto pokemon and (i.e. catching bayleef, then trading to RU/SA, and getting a chikorita)and expands your list to it's full potential (386). However the pokedex will not be updated until you start trading with FR/LG (To obtain the NationalDex). I give this game a 9/10.

5.0 out of 5 stars This game is an incredible improvement from Pokemon Stadium!, September 13, 2003

If I had a penny for every time I said "WOW!" I could buy the game a million times. The graphics are just increadible! I thought I was seeing the real thing! You'll be amazed, too, if you saw what it was like!
Finally, attacks that hit the pokemon and not just go through them and make them unhappy-looking. And there are trainers! The pokeballs don't fall out of trees, come out of doors, or magically appear!
This game is certainly an improvement from the last pokemon stadium! If I were you, I'd buy it!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Pokemon Game Yet!, April 12, 2005
A Kid's Review
= Durability:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Pokemon Colosseum (Video Game)
This is definately a good choice if you want a game full of adventure, action, and pokemon! With great graphics, cool music, and more, Pokemon Colosseum is the best pokemon game yet!

Graphics-8/10: This game's graphics could be better for a gamecube game, but for a pokemon game, they are very cool. The people/pokemon look pretty good, but the battle moves look completely awesome!

Sound-7/10: Although the game's music can get a little annoying when you're in a town, you completely forget about that when you get in a battle! The battle music is incredible and once you start the battle, you don't wanna stop because the music is so addicting!

Game Length-7/10: The first time you play the game, it may seem like it will take FOREVER for the game to end. But the truth is, it really is a quick game. In fact, if you work hard enough, you can finish in maybe 5 days or less. But I do think that the makers of the game could've made it a little longer...

Fun Level-10/10: Yes, you read right. A 10 out of 10! The minute you fight that first battle, you won't want to put the game down! It is still has the classic game style, like battling and completing special missions. But since you can steal other people's pokemon and open their hearts, it gives the game a fun new twist!

Story-9/10: Greatest story yet! After over 3 sets of games, they finally gave a pokemon game something new and more fun! Instead of your quest of being a pokemon master and collecting EVERY pokemon, you have to snag and purify pokemon from their shadow self. Like I said before, it gives the game a fun new twist!

Gamer Friendly-9/10: The game is still pretty simple. It has all of the basic controlls, but now, you have to go to a special computer to save instead of saving whenever you want. And to me, that gets a little annoying...but it is still simple and fun. And since there is pretty much NO violence, it makes a perfect game for anyone!

Overall-10/10: Although some people may think that the old story was better and easier, this game is just as fun as the others! It is very addicting and to me, the best pokemon game yet! But maybe, Nintendo will do even better next time. Although that will be very hard to do! ^_^

5.0 out of 5 stars Pokemon Colosseum: The Next Epic RPG, March 3, 2004
By
Andrew (Burrillville, RI USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Pokemon Colosseum (Video Game)
Ok, my first priority here is to tell other reviewers here that, if you want to give Pokemon Colosseum a 5 star rating, it would be nice if you actually filled in the stars; the overall ratings are down because of that. Thanks. Anyways, have I got info for you!I have researched every aspect of Pokemon Colosseum, and it truly looks like it's going to be one heck of a ride. The other guy on this page is right, the expanded franchise is for younger kids, but when you sift through all of that and get straight down to the games, you get to some of the best there is. The last games, Pokemon Stadium and Stadium 2, for N64, were certainly fun, but not all that deep gameplay-wise. Colosseum aims to change this. The main attraction this time around is it's new RPG mode, fused with a much darker theme not known to other Pokemon games. You play as Wes, a renegade Pokemon trainer with a pair of 80's shades an an attitude to match his spikey hair. He "liberates" the all-powerful "Snag Machine" (that cool looking extension on his left arm) from an evil Trainer organization with a plan to rule the world. Instead of starting off looking for low-level, kinda pathetic pokemon in grass patches, our buddy Wes has a pair of level 30 formidable Pokemon: Umbreon and Espeon. Wes, along with his big-eyed friend, Rui, has one goal: to use the Snag Machine to steal the all-new "Shadow Pokemon" (Pokemon that are used as souless battle machines, corrupted by true evil trainers) away from their commanders. This is truly an intruiging aspect of the gameplay, as it's a change from catching the little Pocket Monsters in the wild. That's all I'm going to let go plot-wise, but graphic-wise, if you've ever seen this game in motion, you know it's a real achievement. Most screenshots available are quite weak presentation-wise, but take it from me: the Snag Ball explosions, the Hyper Beams, Solar Waves, Shadow Rushes (the only attack a Shadow Pokemon knows, until you restore it's former life), and all other things look absolutely stunning. Plus, when you pre-order the game, (stops March 9th!) you'll get a bonus disc with a preview of both the game and the upcoming movie, Pokemon: Jirachi Wish Maker, along with a cool new legendary Pokemon to download into your copy of Pokemon Ruby or Pokemon Sapphire. Oh, yeah, and you can upload your team of Pokemon from either of the above games into Pokemon Colosseum to be used in the incredibly deep battle mode. I certainly can't wait until Pokemon: Colosseum hits the shelves on March 24. 'Cause this time, those little Pokemon you once knew have grown up just a bit. Gotta Rescue 'Em All!

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm lovin' it!, November 20, 2005
A Kid's Review
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Pokemon Colosseum (Video Game)
This is the best! Out of all my games, this one is my favorite! Pokemon Colosseum is different than pokemon Ruby and Saphire because the graphics make it look real, though there are less pokemon to catch.

Pros
-you can catch Bayleef, while you couldn't in Hoenn
-you start out with two pokemon, instead of one
-you can go to Mt. Battle to train your pokemon

Cons
NOTHING, THIS GAME IS PERFECT!
now that you know so much about this game, go out and buy it, because this is a you must buy toy!
P.S. remember, gotta catch em' all!

5.0 out of 5 stars The most exciting game!, January 26, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Pokemon Colosseum (Video Game)
This game will take you through a video game that you've never experienced before! Pokemon Colosseum is a game that's in great 3-D animation and has an RPG mode too! The game features 386 pokemon, including the ultra rare Deoxys! You can also transfer your pokemon from Ruby, Sapphire, Fire Red, or Fire Green into the game and see them attack in 3-D! This game is the best game (in my opinion) so far. I hope YOU will get this game too.

4.0 out of 5 stars Raj Venkat's Pokemon colosseum review, January 17, 2005
A Kid's Review
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Pokemon Colosseum (Video Game)
Pokemon Colosseum is a very good game. Have you ever wanted to see your Ruby/Sapphire/fire-red/leaf-green team in 3d? Well now you can! There are 2 modes:Story mode and Battle mode. In the story mode you are the hero who "snags" shadow pokemon, pokemon who's hearts are closed by their trainers to make them stronger. You start off with Umbreon and Espeon. You later get a partner who can see the dark aura of shadow pokemon. Then you must snag and purify pokemon throughout the mode. In the Battle mode you must use either your ruby/sapphire/fire-red/leaf-green or your story mode team to fight in colosseums and Mt.Battle

Pros:
- Ho-oh (obtainable by beating Battle mode Mt.Battle with story mode team)

-After beating Realgam tower you unlock the trading center that lets you trade story mode pokemon with GBA Pokemon version

-Graphics: THe graphics of the Pokemon put me in awe

-The hero has a "dark" background

-Battle mode is very challenging for those who say Colosseum is too easy

Cons:
-No wild Pokemon, so no choice in which Pokemon you want on your team

-Cannot play multiplayer without GBA-GC link cable, gameboys, and a pokemon version

-Story mode not very challenging

-No break from trainers, there is one in every corner

A Kid's Review
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Pokemon Colosseum (Video Game)
This game has two modes-both of which i have extreme feelings about.

The first mode is Story mode, which I won't expose too much.Basically, you travel around the all new Pokeregion of Orre where you collect and purify Team Snagem's evil, shadow Pokemon.I must say, this mode is amazing. As a past reveiwer said,it would be great to be able pick the main character's gender, but since you get a boy and a girl to play it's not so much of a problem. This mode is also highly addictive, and you'll want to keep training and battling the baddies.Full marks here, though it does feel a bit like a gameboy game.

Next is Battle mode, which is pitiful. It's supposed to be in the format of past Pokemon Stadiums, but there are no rental pokemon. For me,this is a huge drawback. My dad and I used to enjoy a rental battle-fair,equal and we get to pick any pokemon we please. As is,Colosseum requires you to load your team from Ruby/Sapphire to fight (which I'm guessing is a pitiful attempt to boost Ruby/Sapphire sales and the special device required for the transfer).Battle mode is a bomb.

All in all,Pokemon Colleseum is great. It's a bit of a drawback to not have the cute little mini-games though...Oh well. This is still a must for Pokefans everywhere and-if you can just enjoy the roleplay mode-you won't be dissapointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Awesome game!!, March 25, 2004
By
This review is from: Pokemon Colosseum (Video Game)
This game is a must for everyone, Pokemon fan or not!! The graphics are just stunning and gorgeous! Plus in the Colosseum mode, you actually see the trainer standing behind the pokemon, and throwing the pokeball too!! And they even blink and make real movements. There are 2 modes to play. The first is the Story mode, an actual rpg, finally!! This story is different than the GameBoy games though. This time, your a trainer who has to snag "Shadow Pokemon". You start out with an Umbreon and Espeon as your pokemon, then later you meet up with a girl who has special powers and can see the "Shadow Pokemon". A organization known as Team Snagem has closed a device called the "Snag Machine", and this can capture a trainers pokemon. Then they artificially close the pokemon's heart and it becomes a "Shadow Pokemon", and they attack humans! You then travel around to different towns with your new partner and capture these "Shadow Pokemon". Then you battle with these new pokemon, as you use them in battle and walk around with them their Shadow meter goes down, and after you reach a certain stage in the game you can completly "purify" these pokemon. Shadow pokemon do not gain exp. points in battle, however once you purify them, all the exp. points they earned during previous battles will apply to them at once. The towns are so beautiful too!! There's pokemon centers, Poke Marts, and Gyms too!! Plus lots of trainers who are ready to battle you!! The battles are all double battles, so each trainer has 2 pokemon on the field at the same time. Which makes for a very interesting and fun battle!! Plus there are also Knock-Out Colosseum battles that you can enter in the Story mode, and your pokemon will gain exp. points in these also. The second mode you can play is the Colosseum mode. You can choose from either a single or double battle. You will need to register your pokemon first, so you can either upload them from your Pokemon Ruby or Sapphire game, or enter with the pokemon you caught in the Story mode. However you can't use Shadow Pokemon. When you first start the Colosseum Battle mode, there are 4 colosseums that you can choose to battle in, each with their own difficulty level, Easy, Normal and Hard. As you progress farther in the Story mode, and become the CHAMP in the Colosseum mode, more colosseum battle stadiums will be opened. Its so awesome to battle with your own raised pokemon in 3D!! The game graphics are just so amazing!! And even the attacks look great! A real huge improvement over Pokemon Stadium for N64. The pokemon voices are great too, and there's no annoying announcer guy either. All in all, this is a fantastic game that you've got to get!! And you definetaly won't regret buying this!! Great game for everyone!!
