Most people (12 and up) look at Pokemon and say YUK. I know that's what I did (I'm 14), But I was shopping for my sister (big pokemon fan). So i decided to look at the song list (cause she is one room over from me, so i can hear the music from my room) to see if it was any good and as i was skimming the artists I relized my sister would hate this cd, but me and my...

5.0 out of 5 stars An Amazing Album!, November 10, 1999
By
Ben McDermott (Fort Erie Ontario Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Pokemon: The First Movie (Audio CD)
I have never seen the Pokemon TV show, so when I purchased this CD, I didn't know what to expect. However after listening to the album, I must say, it is amazing!. The album features some of pop music's biggest stars like Britney, Christina, N-Sync, and 98 Degrees. It featuers many up-tempo catchy songs along with some impressive ballads. Album highlights include "Makin My Way (Anyway That I Can) sung by Billie. The song, written by songwriter extrodinare Diane Warren, has a very inspirational lyric about not letting anyone stop you from achieving your goal. This mid-tempo ballad is sure to win over the hearts of top 40 radio instantly. New artist Ashley Ballard makes a HUGE impression on "It Was You". Produced by Rodney Jerkins, the song has a fresh and current sound that accompany's Ballard's amazing voice. It has some serious potiential. The standout track is Christina Aguliera's "We're A Miracle". The songs beautiful arrangement and enchanting melody is incredible. Aguliera proves once again that she leads the pack of new, young faces that are trying to make it big. She delievers a powerful performance on a song that should have been included on her debut album. Some of the songs on the album sound like songs from a Nintendo game (especially "Catch Me If You Can"), but if you miss out on the above mentioned tracks, you are missing out on some of the finest work by young music artist in a long time!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good music, but didn't fit the movie., January 25, 2000
This review is from: Pokemon: The First Movie (Audio CD)
I've got this CD and have enjoyed it ever since. The music is easy on the ears, yet upbeat enough to keep my interest. I've shared it with my cousins and they've loved it also. My youngest cousin, when not running around shouting "Pika pika pikachu!" is usually bugging me to pop the disc into the player so she can "groove". I know many who absolutly hate Pokemon, yet they've enjoyed the music.

Now, to get to my point. I own the video to "Mewtwo Strikes Back" and I have seen both the English and the Japanese version. My rant? The music just does not fit the movie's overall mood. If you've heard the origonal soundtrack to the Japanese version, you'd agree. The creepy organ music (dubbed: Mewtwo's theme) is really, really, shall I say it?-- cool. The Japanese Pokemon theme, the battle scene music, all of it fits the movie's mood to a T. So, I ask: why, when a movie or cartoon is transliterated into English, do they change the origonal soundtrack? It was so much better than the English version! My little cousins agree also, as do many others who have seen and/or heard the origonal Japanese version. So, as a plight to WB: Keep the music the same, just translate the words to English. It's much easier that way.

Domo arigatou.

So if you like that kind of stuff get the CD. It's not just another Pokemon thing. Take my word for it, i hate Pokemon and I really liked the CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pokemon CD Terrific!, December 7, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Pokemon: The First Movie (Audio CD)
This was a fabulous soundtrack! Even adults agree that the soundtrack is great. With songs from Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, Aaron Carter, N Sync, and so much more, how can you go wrong? Three great songs are #11, Vacation, #13, Catch me If You Can, and especially #16, Brother My Brother, a terrific song about getting along with great instrumentals and even better lyrics! I recommend that anyone, absolutely ANYONE, even Pokemon haters, buy the CD and at least listen to that one song. It's so inspirational!

5.0 out of 5 stars It was great!!, June 21, 2004
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Pokemon: The First Movie (Audio CD)
It was a really good CD overall!

1. Pokemon Theme: I liked it a lot, but not as much as the original piece on the 2BA Master CD. It waqs a cool way to start out the CD though.
2.Don't Say You Love Me: This was one of the best tracks on the CD. M2M was the right band to have sing this piece. Though I don't know how it fits into the movie, it was a good track anyway.
3.It Was You: Another of my favorites, it's a great track also. Ashely Ballad can sing, and So Plush compliments her singing.

4.We're a Miracle: It was pretty good singing, but the lyrics weren't all that great. I didn't enjoy this track as much as the earlier tracks.
5. Soda Pop: I avoid this one everytime. I don't know how it fits into the tracks, or why this track is on here. It wasn't one of the better ones.
6.Somewhere, Someday: Pokemon seems to like using the big all-time bands on this CD. I'm sort of neutral on this one. It was great, it wasn't bad, it was okay.
7. Get Happy: This one is another of my all-time favorites. It's great for those "Sugar, SUGAR RUSH I NEED TO DANCE!!!" moods. It's fun to sing along to also ^^
8.Hey You Free Up Your Mind: Another of those avoidable songs. As I said before, they like using those big time bands, and often those songs are the avoidable ones. I didn't like the song at all, because of the rather dark mood it sets you in right after your sugar rush mood.
9.Fly With Me: Another big band one. This one's not as avoidable as the others, but I still don't like listening to it as much as some of the ones by smaller bands.
10.Lullaby: I love this one! I like the beat and the sound effects are great! Mandah was the perfect choice to sing this one.
11.Vacation: Another great song!! The beat is as good as "Lullaby" and "Get Happy". Vitamin C was great for this song. The sound choices are good, and it's fun to sing along to.
12.Making My Way: It's not my favorite, but it's pretty darn good. The singings great, and the background singers are good.
13.Catch me if you can: It's a great beat and a good song. Especially if you get around to learning the background singers lines. It might be a little fun to dance to, just don't knock over lamps in the process.
14.Have Some Fun With the Funk: Considering that Aaron Carter is another big-time singer, it's good. I don't understand where it fits into the movie, though, although some of the better ones don't fit into the movie at all...
15. If my Tears Could Bring you Back: It's for one of those "I made a mistake and now you're gone..." moods. It's originally kind of hard to tell if the person who they want to return is dead or not, but I really listened for a long time, and it turns out that the singer is singing about someone still alive. It's a great song if you're feeling a little too depressed for "Get Happy" or "Vacation".
16.Brother My Brother: This one was a great way to end the soundtrack. It's a song kind of about peace almost. The singers are really good, and the setting in the song matches the one in the actual movie.

So overall, this CD is definately worth buying if you're willing to shell out a buck or two for great songs. I highly recommend this CD for any Pokemon fans out there ^^

2.0 out of 5 stars How can they call this a soundtrack?, December 15, 1999
By
Scott Hosner (Sacramento, California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Pokemon: The First Movie (Audio CD)
I was extremely disapointed with this title. The worst words you can see on a CD case are, "Music from and INSPIRED by the movie." I purchased the soundtrack in hopes of listening to the composed music that was in the movie. I.E. when Ash comes marching through the smoke with all of the pokemon behind him. I can only hope that Nintendo will eventually release a full musical SCORE from the film.

3.0 out of 5 stars it's not great, but not too bad, December 26, 1999

This review is from: Pokemon: The First Movie (Audio CD)
Some of my favorite artists are on this cd and that is why I bought it. Everything I expected came from them- such as Somewhere, Someday by NSYNC and We're a Miracle by Christian Aguilera. Both songs are incredible. But there were a few surprises on this cd also. I really like M2M's Don't Say You Love Me. I also like It Was You by Ashley Ballard and Lullaby by Mandah. Both unknowns but very talented. Everything else I could do without.

5.0 out of 5 stars The most amazing thing I have for any category ever., March 29, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Pokemon: The First Movie (Audio CD)
This is a Pokemon CD(duh).Like the other Pokemon CDs,it has pop music. As it might make your ears bleed if you don't like pop music, and but few songs are actully about Pokemon, this is outstandingly awesome to me.
Being...me...I couldn't care less what other people think negativly about me.Ya,I'm a pokemaniac, and I listen to pop music(well, really the only pop music I listen to are my 3 Pokemon CDs),so what?
I baught this CD when it came out back in 1999,'bout 7 years ago.I was 4 years old.I loved Pokemon since it came out.And,8 years later,3 to 11,toddler to pre-teen,yada,yada,yada,I love it even more.Every day I listened to this CD.Untill it got lost.It got lost when I was 7 or 8.Since then,I was dying. Finally,I decided to buy a new one. Now,though,I hear it diffrently. When I was younger,I'd listen to just about anything. Now for some reason this CD is better.
I love most of the songs.
1.Pokemon Theme-This is the extended version of the one on 2BA Mater.But it's more pop-like then technopop-like.
2.Don't Say You Love Me-The only reason they put this on the CD is because in the music video, these people are at one of those theaters where you watch it in your car,and they're watching the Pokemon The First Movie(which this is a soundtrack of (duh)).Nevertheless, this is my favorite song.
3.It Was You-Hmm...I guess this is okay.
4.We're a Miricle-They played this after the movie.Okay, the person singing this is really bad.I barely like this song.
5.Soda Pop-Britney Spears?What were they thinking?!
6.Somewhere,Someday-Average,I guess.Not my top 5,but...whatever.
7.Get Happy-I LOVE THIS SONG!This is my second favorite.It's so cheerful,you can imagine.Awesome.Gotta listen to it 7 times a day.If not,more.
8.(Hey You)Free Up Your Mind-this is one of the songs played after this movie. It's pretty good, would be better if it wasn't mostly "free up your mind" over and over.If you hear the whole song, you'll see what I mean.
9.Fly With Me-Okay.umm...that's all I can think of.
10.Lullaby-o_0...I like this.
11.Vacation-this is the extended version of it played on Pikachus' Vacation.
12.Makin' My Way (Anyway That I Can)-Average.(I'm running out of things to say!)
13.Catch Me If You Can-Extended version of the one played on Pikachus' Vacation.I don't really even know myself if I like this better or not.
14.(Have Some)Fun With The Funk-Really?Serosly?AARON CARTER?!?!Sounds like a girl.Begging of the song isn't...very good,but the rest is Okay.
15.If Only Tears Could Bring You Back-I really like this song.Played after the movie.Sounds like a love song. Is,most likely.
16.Brother,My Brother-Really inspiering.I put my own words with some of the ones from this,and...well,It would take me an Hour to explain all of it.Sorry.
Okay, sorry,I forgot to put who sung the songs. You can just check above the page,on the sampler thing. If I messed anything up,it's because I typed all the from heart(I memoriezed all the songs).I'm trying to make it sound like I'm not sexist, but I reccomend girls get this.Mostly girls sing, then the rest are boy bands. But boys can get it if they want to.Who's stopping them?
Well(whew),that review was longer than expected.I wanna be a writer when I'm older.I rock at that(heheh)....did I forget anything...?I'll put it down in another review.
Awesome.Highly reccomended.
...why aren't da indentations working?
