4.0 out of 5 stars Master Quest
4Kids finally releases Season 5 of the Pokemon saga. While the entire "Johto" series is considered by most fans to be somewhat boring (and often filled with annoying dialouge errors), there are many good episodes to be found, such as the exciting Lugia storyline, the weird "Egg-Sighting Adventure" and the incredibly hilarious "Dues and Don'ts" (I have placed a "*" next to...

1.0 out of 5 stars Good show, awful picture quality.
Anywho who knows anything about DVDs knows that the standard dual layered disc has the capacity to hold 4 hours worth of material. So what happens when you put 12 25 minute episodes on one disc? Terrible picture compression. It's bad, very distracting. A times, the picture is pixellated the compression is that bad. And why> Because Viz are cheap. If this had been a six...

4Kids finally releases Season 5 of the Pokemon saga. While the entire "Johto" series is considered by most fans to be somewhat boring (and often filled with annoying dialouge errors), there are many good episodes to be found, such as the exciting Lugia storyline, the weird "Egg-Sighting Adventure" and the incredibly hilarious "Dues and Don'ts" (I have placed a "*" next to worthwhile episodes)
The first box set in Pokemon DVD history contains the first 32 episodes of the Master Quest season, with the other 32 to be released next year. The episodes featured are as follows...
501 - The Whirlpool Affair
502 - Fly Me To The Moon*
503 - Takin' It On The Chinchou!
504 - The Corsola Caper
505 - Mantine Overboard
506 - Octillery, The Outcast
507 - Dueling Heroes
508 - The Perfect Match *
509 - Plant it Now...Diglett Later!*
510 - Hi Ho Silver...Away!
511 - The Mystery Is History
512 - A Parent Trapped*
513 - A Promise is a Promise*
514 - Throwing In The Noctowl
515 - Nerves Of Steelix*
516 - Bulbasaur...The Ambassador!*
517 - Espeon, Not Included*
518 - For Ho-Oh The Bell Tolls
519 - Extreme Pokemon
520 - An Egg-Sighting Adventure*
521 - Hatching a Plan
522 - Dues and Don'ts!*
523 - Just Waiting On A Friend*
524 - A Tyrogue Full Of Trouble
525 - Xatu The Future
526 - Talkin' 'Bout an Evolution*
527 - The Rage Of Innocence*
528 - As Cold as Pryce
529 - Nice Pryce, Baby!
530 - Whichever Way The Wind Blows
531 - Some Like It Hot!*
532 - Hocus Pokémon
As it is with most other Pokemon DVDs, there will most likely be no extras, and the episodes will play exactly as they did on the WB, so don't expect any special features aside from the subtitles. But still, it's a very good deal for 32 episodes of a TV series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Complete Series (almost), October 21, 2004
This review is from: Pokemon Master Quest 1: DVD Collector's Box Set (DVD)
It's great that they are finally filling in this missing season. Too bad the first and third seasons are still only available with 3 episodes per DVD. Also,If there are 32 episodes in this set and 32 in the next, then it appears "Hoenn Alone" will be left out of both the Master Quest And Advanced videos. That's too bad as it was an exciting episode and also shows the transition from Johto to Hoenn. I have one final suggestion-put out a set of the 'special' episodes that as far as I know have never been shown in the US.

5.0 out of 5 stars Viz Video got it right this time, December 17, 2004
This review is from: Pokemon Master Quest 1: DVD Collector's Box Set (DVD)
I got the 3 disc set the other day and it is great to see that 32 some episodes are on disc in one set. For about a couple years now i have been waiting for a season box set of pokemon episodes and finally i get to buy that. It is worth the money to spend it on and i am very exicited to get the second volume of this long and good season of pokemon. And hopefully in the future such things like these box sets will lead to more season box sets of pokemon from season 1 and such.

This set is awesome. 32 episodes of master quest all on three discs. That is half the series. The episodes look decent, but they seem kinda faded...Darn that Porygon incident! The sound is excellent, but guess what...only the english version is included, no japanese uncut stuff. Sorry folks, but you know at least we get them in some form. The menus are still, except we get a little orbiting pokeball, just like the opening title sequence in every episode. I can't wait for the second half of master quest. Maybe if we write really nice letters to Viz and 4kids, they'll include the Raikou special as an extra feature in the next set!

5.0 out of 5 stars I Got this Pokemon DVD box-set For a Birthday Present Once, December 18, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Pokemon Master Quest 1: DVD Collector's Box Set (DVD)
This DVD is GREAT!!!
My favorite part of this DVD is disc 2.
I watched the episode when Ash helped a man with a Noctowl in the episode Throwing in the Noctowl, the episode when Ash earned his mineral badge by beating Jasmine in a gym battle called the Nerves of Steelix, and the episode when Ash and his arch-rival Gary were on a race in the episode Extreme Pokemon. Gary Oak is a moron because Ash hates Gary, but believe it or not Ash beat Gary in the race in this episode.

Best of all I watched this episode An Egg Sighting Adventure, when Ash was looking for his pokemon egg and Misty decided to help Ash, then Officer Jenny helped Ash through out the middle of this episode. At the end a Kangaskhan gave control of the egg, because Team Rocket stole it at the first place, Kangaskhan challenged Team Rocket, and returned it back to Ash.
An Egg Sighting Adventure is such a great episode. I give this episode 10/10
Don't forget Misty was still with Ash when this season of Pokemon was aired.
I wish Misty was traveling with Ash again. Remember Misty is good-looking since the first season of Pokemon was aired on 1999.
