Great!,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Pokemon - Psychic Surprise (Vol. 7) (DVD)
This Dvd is pretty good, but the last episode endes on a hang! Also buy Primape Problems so you can see what happens next! The 2nd episode is sort of sad. The 1st episode is kind of scary! Over all other than the Mystery of Mt. Moon, this is one of my favorite!

A wonderful video for any anime fan!,

If you've seen Pokemon before, and like me, have noticed that the plotline rarely changes from episode to the next, this video is a refreshing change. The first episode follows the story of the ghost of a young maiden who turned to stone waiting for her love to return from a war. Our heroes come face-to-face with a Gastly who is going about impersonating the ghost in order to keep her legend alive. This is one of the few episodes where Ash, Brock, and Misty actually work with Team Rocket, rather than thwart their thieving plans. The second episode is very sweet; it's the story of Ash's Butterfree going off to find a mate and leaving his trainer. First, he must win a pink Butterfree's heart by rescuing her from Team Rocket. The epsiode ends with a touching array of scenes of catch catching and raising Butterfree from Caterpie. The third episode, and my personal favorite, centers around Gym Leader Sabrina. Sabrina constantly holds a doll who seems to speak most of her dialouge for her. A mysterious man warns Ash not to challenge Sabrina, but since when does Ash listen to anyone? Upon losing, Ash and friends are almost trapped when Sabrina shrinks them down to doll size inside her toybox. The same man rescues Ash and tells his that if he were to capture a ghost Pokemon, he might stand a chance against Sabrina. He then quietly adds that he hope Ash can "rescue" her. This is the last episode on the tape, unfortunatly. When the Pokemon episodes were released on video, they were put in groups of three epsiodes each in chronological order. So some videos, like this one, have a cliffhanger with no ending. If you want to see the end, Primape Problems is the next video after this, and it features the two concluding epsiodes about Sabrina. If you're into anime, but skepital that Pokemon can provide an enjoyable plot, I highly recommend this video. This shows Pokemon at its best. A word of warning: If you're thinking of purchasing this video for a child, the plot gets slightly complicated, and there are some spooky scene which may frighten smaller children. I would recommend Poke-friends, or another less intimidating tape.

So Long Butterfree,

This review is from: Pokemon - Psychic Surprise (Vol. 7) [VHS] (VHS Tape)
My favorite episode in this video is Bye Bye Butterfree. It's sad because butterfree finds a mate and goes. The mate it finds is pink. Most Butterfrees are blue. The best part is when Ash is thinking of his old memories of when he caught Caterpie.I hope you'll watch it.

Good, but NOT FOR EVERYONE!,

I wanted to write a review to warn people: This is a very good tape, with lots of good comic moments (such as Ash, Misty, and Brock reciting the Team Rocket poem). But, this tape has some CREEPY supernatural elements that are unsuitable for younger children or others who are easily scared.

Three Creepy Episodes,
This review is from: Pokemon - Psychic Surprise (Vol. 7) [VHS] (VHS Tape)
The three episodes on this Pokemon tape are as follows:
"The Ghost of Maiden's Peak"-- Ash, Misty, Brock and of course Team Rocket end up at a seaside town called Maiden's Peak, just in time for the Summer's End Festival. As it turns out, Brock is feeling rather down because this means he won't get to see any more beach girls for another year (sheesh, what a creep)... Little does he know what's in store for him. Upon arriving in town, Brock and James both notice a mysterious, beautiful girl standing on the pier. However, just after they see her, they get distracted, and then they notice that the girl has disappeared a few seconds later. Later on, during the festival, a mysterious old woman informs them that a beautiful woman will lead them to a cruel fate, but she doesn't give any specifics. Then, as if things weren't strange enough already, our heroes (and Team Rocket) see a painting on display featuring the beautiful girl from the beach. It then turns out that the girl turned to stone thousands of years ago, and that her figure still stands on the pier. Brock and James go to visit the rock, and are both entranced by it, especially Brock. In fact, he is so fascinated with the rock that he ends up staying there all evening, and though he tells Ash and Misty he'll come to the Pokemon Center by curfew, he never shows up. Meanwhile, Jessie and Meowth decide to swipe the painting, but James is still more or less focused on the mystery girl. During the night, the girl appears as a ghost... and creepy wackiness ensues. In "Bye Bye Butterfree", it's Butterfree mating season, and Ash decides to let his Butterfree go. However, when Butterfree finds the Butterfree of his dreams, he is rejected, and then as if to make matters worse, Team Rocket steals the entire Butterfree flock. Ultimately, things turn out well, but unfortunately Ash has to release Butterfree into the wild. I consider this to be the saddest episode in Pokemon history, tying with Pokemon Advanced's "A Poached Ego". Of course it's a good episode, like just about every other, but it's really sad. In "Abra and the Psychic Showdown", Ash and company are lost in the forest, and after meeting a mysterious little girl, they arrive in Saffron City. They are then promptly caught by yet ANOTHER Team Rocket hoax, but are surprisingly rescued by the little girl, who seems to have supernatural abilities. Ash then goes to battle the city's Gym Leader, Sabrina, despite the warnings of a mysterious man who says he would do well to stay away. Upon arriving, Ash finds the mysterious little girl once again, not to mention Sabrina, who is extremely creepy, rather like her Pokemon Abra, who proceeds to evolve during the match and thoroughly defeat Pikachu. Having been asked by the little girl to "play with her" if they lose the match, our heroes suddenly find themselves in a mysterious house... and upon realising that the house is in fact a dollhouse, they realise that the little girl meant it quite literally. However, they are narrowly rescued by the mysterious man, who also seems to have telekinesis. He tells them to leave Saffron City and never return. However, Ash can't get into the Pokemon League without the Marsh Badge, and seeing how determined he is, the mysterious man advises him to go to Lavender Town and capture a Ghost Pokémon. Later on, he says to himself that perhaps they're the ones who can rescue Sabrina. In conclusion, this tape is of course good, and I'd recommend it if you're a Pokemon fan.

A Unique Cartoon That Sent Chills Up My Spine!,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Pokemon - Psychic Surprise (Vol. 7) [VHS] (VHS Tape)
All three episodes of Pokémon on this tape are spectacular episodes and probably the best of the series. I received this video right after I'd slipped out of the Pokemon craze. I complained in my head, but when I turned it on I was quite surprised at how amazing this video was. The third episode on this tape is the best. It is about Sabrina's gym and Ash has to get her badge, but doensn't succeed. Now, Sabrina's little girl (doll) asks to play with Ash. And I mean, literally...in a world of dolls. This episode is both funny, action-packed and throws chills up my spine especially in that bath tub scene where the doll turns around in the water! Well, I recommend this to anyone, in or out of the craze of Pokémon!

This is a really great show! I only wish that they do show what happens to Sabrina, and how ash is going to defeat her and Abbra.I would also like to know what the jogger in the show meant about Ash being "the one" to save Sabrina. What is Sabrina's past history?

This review is from: Pokemon - Psychic Surprise (Vol. 7) (DVD)
The case looks brand new, the episodes are good and feature my favorite type of Pokemon; well except for "Bye Bye Butterfree", really not sure how that episode got grouped into a psychic Pokemon DVD but I knew that it was on it when I ordered the DVD so whatever.. The disk itself doesn't have any scratches that I can see and plays nicely.
Bonus: It has the full length Pokerap! |
