1.0 out of 5 stars Nintendo and Pokémon
I do not see what all the fuzz is about, but the Pokémon vibe has been going in for quite some time now. Thus Nintendo decided to release this new cartoon. The storyline is somewhat copied from several other Pokémon editions, so no surprises there. The DVD hardly contains any extras, so in my opinion this is a DVD NTO WORTH BUYING, the one star is given...

I don't see why everyone seems to hate it, but theres nothing wrong with pokemon. The anime is on the G/PG side but that's ok. It is generally fun to watch and remains entertaining through the whole series. So if you haven't seen pokemon yet, don't listen to what everyone says and check it out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally, the payoff, December 18, 2000

It is on this tape that Ash finally reaches the Pokémon league, and it's a lot of fun to watch. The battles in these three episodes are among the best the series has had, IMO, and since we've been waiting so long for the gang to get in the league that makes things all the sweeter. A must-have tape for any fan.

5.0 out of 5 stars round one of the pokemon league, May 22, 2001
A Kid's Review
i think that i quite agree with the other customer review that this is sort of in the G/PG side, but the main sidekick shouldn't worried that there's going to be trouble in the first few rounds, take for example,if gary decided that hw wanted to battle ash then ash would say 'no problem with battling a fellow trainer, all right, let's battle, gary' because that would be a kind comment that he would say to him and also, you take in all the different elements that occur during round one, like for example, team rocket would make another one of their funny plans to steal pikachu, but the main plot in the story is the pokemon league and i think that if people in that story [including team rocket] understood that a pokemon league battle is important, then team rocket would steal pikachu during the certain part in the climax of the round

5.0 out of 5 stars Pokémon League at Last, October 8, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
After 24 volumes, it's finally time for the Pokémon League, and what a great start it has. The battles on this video are good, and not cheap in any way. (those familiar with the series will know that some of Ash's matches tend to end in cheap victories) Of the two Pokémon League videos, (Pokemon - Friends and Rivals (Vol. 26) [VHS] being the other) this is the better one.

Round One contains the following episodes:

Round One - Begin!
Fire and Ice
The Fourth Round Rumble

This is one of the better volumes due to it containing the better half of the Pokémon League. If you are looking to buy only the best volumes, this would be one to get.
