A Bit Disappointing..., March 24, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Pokemon Ruby & Sapphire Official Trainer's Guide (Paperback)
Since I usually play games with a strategy guide, I decided to get this with Ruby at the local Gamestop. Well, that and it was the only guide they had. Big mistake. If you're looking for a Pokedex with moves and evolution specifics, look elsewhere. If you're looking for hints on making Pokeblocks that actually help, don't go here. Pokemon locations? Only in the most generic sense. Attack descriptions (especially pertaining to contests)? Nope. Breeding info? Uh-uh. It does, however, do an excellent job of telling you which trainer has what critter, and how much $ you get as a reward. I can't, however, really recommend this guide. Go for Prima's version, or if you can find it, the Official Nintendo Player's Guide.

Not such a good resource, March 24, 2003
This review is from: Pokemon Ruby & Sapphire Official Trainer's Guide (Paperback)
I am an adult who is a big pokemon fan. I have played all versions of the game and used a variety of strategy guides, as it is impossible to catch them all without one. This book has an okay walkthrough section. However, I gave this book one star because it has no Pokedex! The walkthrough sections are not interesting to me as I have more fun playing through on my own, but a Pokedex is ESSENTIAL!!! There is no way to know how to raise pokemon without it. If you are looking for a strategy guide definitely go for a different one. This one doesn't come close to being a good one.

GET NINTENDO OR PRIMA'S GUIDE...'NUFF SAID, April 29, 2005
This review is from: Pokemon Ruby & Sapphire Official Trainer's Guide (Paperback)
I have all three Pokemon Ruby & Sapphire guides out there - prima's, nintendo's, and (shudders) brady's.
Bradygames' strategy guides either are downright awesome or downright bad, and this guide is answer B. This was the first of the three PR&S guides that I bought. I went home, played the game with the help of this guide, and without leaving Littleroot Town, went out to EBGames the next day and bought the Prima guide.
Bradygames includes a decent walkthrough of the game with detailed info, but that's about it. The guide has a list - just a basic list - of all the Pokemon, but forces you to buy a whole other $15 book to get info on the other Pokemon. May I note that in both Prima and Nintendo's guides, they include just as full Pokedexes but in the same guide? Yeah, that was a huge downside of the Bradygames' guide. Also, the walkthrough really could have been more detailed now that I think about it. After I compared the three guides, Nintendo had the best walkthrough, Prima came in second, and guess who came in last.
I'm getting tired of listing endless bad things about Brady's Pokemon Ruby & Sapphire guide, so I'll just say:
BUY NINTENDO OR PRIMA'S GUIDE...'nuff said!
