...and I'm in college and love this game...,
By "wynds" (Annapolis, MD) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Pokemon Stadium 2 (Video Game)
I found out about Pokemon characters in another Nintendo game, Super Smash Brothers. I spent many hours annoying friends with Piakchu's battle cry and shortly after rented Pokemon Stadium. I loved the game play in it and a friend and I spent many hours in front of the tv hooting and hollering at each other in the midst of battle. The other day, Pokemon Stadium 2 hit the shelves and I debated about renting it, said what the heck and just bought it. After investing my money it, I came home, showed it to a few people in the dorm and shortly had three or four people in my room. We had back seat battlers calling out commands to the people with controllers and people wandering in to see what was going on. One of the nice things about the game is the ability for 4 controllers to be used. I was curious how they were going to do this and found out it's in the free battle arena. Each person chooses 6 Pokemon and then right before the battle begins you choose 3 each and then switch between trainers in battle, a bit like a tag team. About half of the game is one player and the rest of it is in two -four player mode. I'm still working my way through the gyms and, yes, they do get harder as you move along. I've been frustrated by some of the higher trainers more than once. The "battle now" idea they have is very good. If you and a friend want to sit down and have a quick little go between the two of you this is a good way to go. It is right there on the main screen and you click on it and the system randomly picks 6 Pokemon for you to battle with, this can be done in one or two player mode. The little mini-games are so cute. If you pay attention to your own screen, un-like I did the first time, you should do well. If you want to make sure you win there is an easy setting, if you want a challenge set the system to hard. In event battle there are 4 cups, the Prime Cup, the Poke Cup, the Little Cup and the Challenge Cup. In the challenge cup instead of you using your Pokemon's the computer picks them for you and you can battle on the settings for the Prime, Poke and little cups. To be honest, I have yet to get through everything. I'm currently working on finding a Gameboy Pokemon game so that I can access everything this game has to offer, (as in Pokemon Stadium you need a transfer pack, and sadly it's not included in the game) yet with out it I've had many hours of battle already. Those new Pokemon are toooo cute. My faves? Of the new guys, I've found good battle buddies in Jumpluff, Skarmory, and Girafarig. My tried and true battle companions from Pokemon Stadium are Rapidash, Pikachu and Snorlax. Now... who'll help you win all those battles?

Pokémon Stadium 2! Better than 1!,
By Scott Cohen (New York) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Pokemon Stadium 2 (Video Game)
This is a great game. In Pokémon Stadium 2, there are a lot of changes and a lot of updates. In GB Tower, you can play your Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold, Silver or Crystal. There are 12 new mini games, new Gym Leaders for Gym Leader Castle, and my personal favorite feature, Mystery Gift. On the Main Menu there is a button that says 'Mystery Gift'. What this does is lets you do Mystery Gift with a girl every day. This is good if you want to get new items to make your '3D Room' look cool in White City, get new items, dolls, beds, consoles and more. My cousin and I like to make fun of the girl there. For example, I did Mystery Gift with the girl, I got PSNCUREBERRY when she got an N64. Not fair right? Like I mentioned before, there is a feature that let's you see your room in 3D. Very detailed! You can see the stiches in the Charmander doll, you can see the console with all the details, see you posters and more! I highly recommend this game for people who like Pokémon!

The most outrageous arcade smash is ready for action!,
By David M Farnworth (Nampa, ID USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Pokemon Stadium 2 (Video Game)
Once I get this outrageous title, I will use the old pokemon characters (i.e. Red, Blue, or Yellow) to play through the entire game. However, don't take this game on until you beat the original Pokemon Stadium in both Rounds 1 and 2. You thought it was enough. Think again! The battles are not over! You have 2 more rounds to face in this upcoming adventure. You get to pick from 4 tournaments: Little Cup=Level 5 or lower. Nintendo Cup=Level 50-55. Challenge Cup=Pika, Petit, Poke, and Prime Cups. Ultra Cup=Pokemon up to Level 100. You might think this is the same as the original, but don't worry! You'll get to meet new characters (i.e. Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile, etc.). See ya!

Pokemon Stadium 2 is the best, in my opinion,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Pokemon Stadium 2 (Video Game)
Pokemon Stadium 2 is, in 1 absolutely honest word, GREAT. Absolutely great. The Academy is wonderful, letting you look at lectures and take Poke-Quizzes and test-battle against other student trainers. The battles are a bit more physical, as the Pokemon actually attack each other now. There are 3 levels in the Academy: 1. Pokemon Trainer 2. Pokemon Gym Leader 3. Pokemon Elite Four The test battles are on your knowledge of Pokemon, and give you an already-chosen team of 6 Pokemon. You have to choose the right 3 Pokemon to qualify and earn a star for that trainer. If you earn 3 stars, and pass the Poke-Quiz, you get a medal and qualify for the next level. The mini-games are as follows: 1. Gutsy Golbat, in which you are a Golbat that flies around, trying to eat hearts and trying to Tackle the hearts out of the other Golbats, while avoiding Magnemites. It gets really confusing, so not a real good game, in my opinion. 2. Barrier Ball, a 4-player Pong-type game in which Mr. Mimes creates a Barrier and bounces around Poke Balls. If you score, +1 point. If you get scored on, -1 point. It's pretty fun. 3. Clear-Cut Challenge, my personal favorite. YOu are either a Scyther or a Pinsir, waiting to try to cut a log as close as you can to the white line. If you cut above the line, though, you get minus points. Right on the line, 20 points. Come close, 10. Then 5, then 4, and so on. If you get on the line once, you are usually guaranteed a win.(I got 4 perfects out of 5 once.) 4. Topsy-Turvy, a Hitmontop game where you spin on your head inside a circle, then try to press A and use Rapid Spin and knock the other Hitmontop out of the circle. I'm not that good at it, but still a good game. 5. Furret's Frolic, a furret basketball-type game where Furrets try to Headbutt the Pokeballs into their goal. Pokeballs are worth 1 point, Greatballs are 2, Ultraballs are 3, and the Masterball is 5. 6. Pichu's Power Plant, a game similar to the Pikachu/Voltorb game from Stadium 1, you charge as much as you can, except little orb things pop up from either up, down, left, or right, and you have the press the control pad in that direction, then press the button, either B or A. 7. Rampage Rollout, a fun game, where 4 Donphans have to roll 9 laps around a short track. It's not as simple as you think, as 2nd-4th place finishers EACH LAP get a supply of dust clouds to make other Donphan step on them and slow down for a while. 8. Streaming Stampede, similar to the 'Roll Call' game in Mario Party 2, except that Pokemon run across the screen while you try to count a certain Pokemon. It gets harder as it goes on, and the final count, all the Pokemon that appear, gives you 40 points for a perfect count. Other counts, 10=perfect, 5=close. The 4th count: 20=perfect, 10=close. I am pretty good at this game. 9. Tumbling Togepi, sort of like the Run Rattata Run game from P.S.1, is a race game in which if you step on arrows, then you roll, causing you to go faster, and if you step on obstacles, then you slow down. I am not very good at this game. 10. Delibird's Delivery, a simple present-delivering game(as is Delibird's only move PRESENT), requires you to move to the other side of the field and pick up presents and deliver them to the other side. Quite simple, yet nice. 11. Chansey's Egg Emergency, where you are divided into 4 vertical sections and have to press L and R to catch the falling eggs. There are 100 falling eggs per sections, and there are Voltorbs that zap you if you get them. I have gotten a perfect score of 100 once. 12. Eager Eevee, a game in which 4 Eevees run around the outside of a basket, then as soon as an Aipom lifts the basket, then dash for the fruit inside. But sometimes there are Pinecos that give you penalty. A is to dash inside, and B is to fake a dash. Well, that's all! I'm sorry I couldn't say much about the battling, but I hope my info helped you!!!

Pokemon Stadium 2,

This review is from: Pokemon Stadium 2 (Video Game)
Pokemon Stadium 2 is a sequel to the first one. You can now use all of the Gold and Silver Pokemon in an even better game. There are new features to this game, such as:POKEMON ACADAMY: Learn rules of battle and strategies on three different levels. To pass each level, you have to listen to lectures, pass a test, and beat trainers set up to help you learn different strategies to use on your opponents. NEW CUPS: You now have to master 4 all-new, challenging cups. The Little cup is for level 5 and under Pokemon, and strategy is critical. The Poke Cup returns, but has different trainers. With a level range of 50-55, it requires both strategy and power. The Prime Cup is unlimited, and requires a bit of strategy combined with brute strength. The hardest of all, Challenge Cup, makes you fight with a random team on the spot. MINIGAMES: The new Stadium Minigames are always fun. Gusty Golbat makes you move a Golbat and collect hearts while avoiding Magnamites. In Topsy Turvy, you rapid Spin and knock your opponent out of the ring. When you get 5 Ko's, you win. In Clear Cut Challenge, you try to push A at a log's white line to make your Pinsir or Scyther cut it. In Furret's frolic, you pop up all over and try to push balls into your goal. In Barrier Ball, you play a 4-way Pong game. First one to score five goals wins. Pichu's Power Plant is a more challenging version of Thundering Dynamo. You hook on to one of four lamps and rapidly push either A or B until it goes out. The first one to get a full power meter wins. Rampage Rollout is a race with four Donphans. The people in 2nd third and forth get tornadoes to unleash that make whoever runs into them spin out.In Streaming Stampede, you count the number of Pokemon that run by and push A for each one. If you are within 2, you get points. Tumbling Togepi is like Run Rattata Run. Togepi must dodge logs and Digletts to get to the finish line first. Delibird's Delivery requires you to gather gifts and bring them back to score points. In Egg Emergency, you catch eggs with Chanseys while avoiding Voltorbs which delete from your egg count. In Eager Eevee, you push A when the barrel is raised to get the prize. If you are close to first you get some of it. Pincos make you sit out a turn. GYM LEADER CASTLE: Like the first one, only with the Gold and Silver Gym Leaders This is a pretty good game. It is one of the few good Pokemon products. It's a good N64 game pick for anyone interested.

I love this game!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Pokemon Stadium 2 (Video Game)
The original Pokemon Stadium was the place to organize Pokemon, items, and boxes. You could pit your Pokemon from the Red, Blue, and Yellow versions against the trainers or the Game Boy gym leaders or you could rent Pokemon, play against a friend, or play the mini games. You could also play Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow on the big screen! Now you have a new version to look forward to: Pokemon Stadium 2. It has four new cups with new trainers and you can upload your Pokemon from Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold, or Silver. For rent, you can get all the old and new Pokemon. You can also play Pokemon Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold, or Silver on the big screen! You can also organize your stuff and participate in the twelve new mini games. There is also Battle Now! from the first one and two player battles. You also face the Gym Leaders from Gold and Silver, then the Elite Four and Lance, then the Gold/Silver improved RBY Gym Leaders, then Ash. Also, Gary is one of the Kanto Gym Leaders. It is the funnest game ever and it is way better than the first Pokemon Stadium. I will buy one for my friend's birthday soon because he loves Pokemon too!

Pretty nice follow up!,

This review is from: Pokemon Stadium 2 (Video Game)
I had been waiting the release of this game, and when I actually got it, it was not bad at all. It has all the new pokemon from gold/silver, including the rare Celebi (which is only aquired two ways.) The gym leaders are also back and it allows you (with the use of an expansion pack), to get mystery gifts daily in your GB cartidge daily. You can upload all of the previous versions of pokemon for gameboy, as well as the new ones and the yet-to-come Pokemon Crystal. Overall it is targeted at youngsters, but thrilling enough to still please slightly older audiences as well.

One Word - Beautiful!,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Pokemon Stadium 2 (Video Game)
I'm very picky about games most of the time, but considering how great the first "Stadium" was, I HAD to get the second! (The third in Japan, America never received the original. That's for the better though - in that version, not even ONE THIRD of the first set of Pokemon were avalible! Tsk, tsk, tsk...) The graphics are incredible, to say the least! In Gym Leader Castle, each gym has it's own unique beauty, ranging from a rooftop with a sandy floor to a place that resembles a freezer. The Pokemon themselves have also had a little makeover. The original 151 Pokemon we all know and love don't look too different, but now and then you can catch a new animation for attacking that didn't exsist before. The new Pokemon on the other hand, are much more graceful and detailed than their "ancestors." (Can you say "Steelix" or "Espeon"?) Steel Pokemon actually look like they're made out of metal! And attacks also have a new taste! "Ember" and "Thunder" look alot better, and new attacks look more realistic than the old! ( "Flame Wheel" was MADE for Arcanine, you hear me? ) The sounds and music are better, too! I'll spare you my long ramblings and just say this- Miltank, the cow Pokemon, actually sounds like a real MOO! Unfortunatly, Hitmonlee still sounds like it's burping. ^_^ Be fore I end this, I'll warn everyone - the mini-games are TOO hard! That doesn't affect that star rating though.
