4.0 out of 5 stars For anyone who lives in a Pokemon World
You have to realize this is a CD single not a full length album. There are only two songs (Pokemon World and Pikachu's Vacation), and one instrumental. Pokemon World is a catchy enough tune and was the shows second theme song. Pikachu's Vaccation is a bouncy and light hearted romp and in my opinion the better of the two. I only wish it lasted longer. It would be hard...

This CD only features three tracks, but before you begin moaning, just stop right there. Anyone familiar with animé knows that a lot of CDs are small "mini-CDs" often featuring only three or four tracks, at a far lower price, just like this CD.

The first of these songs is the full version of the second Pokémon opening theme in the US - "Pokémon World". I like this song, and I prefer it to the first one (found on 2BA Master), because I've heard the first one SO many times it's become somewhat boring...

The second song on this is the US version of "Pikachu's Winter Vacation", which was a short cartoon in Japan. This OVA has not yet been dubbed, but this song has been made. It's quite similar to the original, although it is very short (less than two minutes), and it isn't really THAT good. Not compared to the quality of 2BA Master, anyway.

The third and final track is an Instrumental version of "Pikachu's Winter Vacation". I love karaoke (most of the Japanese Pocket Monsters songs have a karaoke version so you can sing along), but this Instrumental version actually adds new instruments to the song, which spoils it. A karaoke version should just remove the words. Still, it's quite good fun to sing along to.

Overall, this is a good CD to own if you like Pokémon, as the first track makes up the value. I got this free with the ECD version of 2BA Master, so you might want to get them together.

Also, some free stuff for your computer is included on this CD. The cut-down video of Pokémon World (as seen at the start of the animé series two) is present, as is a Screen Saver and various backgrounds. However, this stuff isn't really that well done, and was basically just thrown on at the last minute.

If you are a fan of Pokémon, get this CD....

It would be hard to recomend this disc based on these two short songs, but the CD-ROM elements add greatly to the value. You get 3 different wallpapers for your PC and a fun screensaver too, as well as a preview of Pokemon The Movie. Another reviewer said these wallpapers were too basic, but I like the unclutered backgrounds and large characters that appear on them. The colors are bright and the images crisp. Loading these elements was easy and quick and I have had them on my computer for quite some time now. I would've given 5 stars if two or more songs were included and/or there were more interactive elements added. But then the CD probably wouldn't be this cheap.

Bottom line. If you're a Pokemon fan you MUST have this disc. You'll be hard pressed finding better Pkemon wallpapers and screensavers anywhere else and you get two fun and catchy Pokemon tunes as well. GOTTA CATCH 'EM ALL!!

Its alright, but they need more songs. I like the two songs and the instrumental version but I thought that they only put the instrumental stuff because they needed another song. But its pretty good for what they do have. I suggest thinking about it really hard before buying because pikachu's vacation isn't that great of a song and you can hear the theme song when you watch pokemon on weekends.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great PoKéMoN SINGLE!(not soundtrack), March 26, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Pokemon World [ECD] Collector's Edition (Audio CD)
I really like this CD, but everyone is putting it down because it only has 3 tracks. Just think of it as a single release, not a full soundtrack.

PoKéMoN World is much better than the original theme song(which I was a big fan of). Pikachu's Winter Vacation is a little too cute for me, but then again, isn't Pikachu?

PoKéMoN fans of all ages will like this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pokémon World is Superb: Pikachu's Vacation is poor, February 19, 2000

The one minute samples were great: the full length track is even better! Pokémon World has got to be one of the best Pokémon tracks I've heard, rivalling 2 B A Master. Both the lyrics and the music are excellent, and the song isn't spoiled with a backing choir of four year olds, as 2 B A Master was. But the Pikachu's Winter Vacation tracks are really weak. It seems as though the artists just threw some random words and notes together to fill up the CD, and this would spoil any other CD, but Pokémon World is strong enough on its own to make it worth buying just for the single track. The CD also has an enhanced section, containing a screensaver, background pictures and a one minute Pokémon World video clip. This CD is a must for any Pokémon fan.

3.0 out of 5 stars Ah, so this is what a single is., May 12, 2003

Luckily this CD's price isn't as high as a normal CD's.
With only 3 songs on it(and some other trivial stuff), the Pokemon World CD isn't something you'll listen to often. But with the fact that they included the Pikachu's Winter Vacation(an EXTREMELY hard to find video) song on there, I HAD to get it. They also have an instrumental version of the song, with a nice saxophone solo.
The Pokemon World song is on the CD too. In my opinion, this is the worst Pokemon theme song ever produced by 4Kids. The lyrics even seem like a big commercial! Its obvious that the Japanese version of the season two theme is far superior.
Either way, you can get this CD for cheap from just about anywhere, and that'd make sense, since this only has 3 songs(One being almost unlistenable). And if you're interested in hearing the theme song of the Pokemon video you've most likely never seen before, then you should get this CD. The song's not half-bad either.

4.0 out of 5 stars What in the Poke' World?, July 7, 2001
This review is from: Pokemon World [ECD] Collector's Edition (Audio CD)
This CD is aucutally one of the best anime CDs out there. The first track, Poke'mon World, includes the full song with exclusive lyrics. Although a good song, most of the words end in the first 1:30 and the song is 3:18. The second track, Pikachu's Winter Vacation, is very catchy, but very short. Rip off? No, although the only thing Poke'mon about this song is in the chorus when they say, "Pikachu's Vaction" twice. The third track, insrumental version of Winter Vacation, is very good, adding a saxaphone solo in there instead of lyrics which aucutally enhances the enjoyment. There's also the Enchanced CD stuff which includes the music video of Poke'mon World(the same one off of the Orange Island episodes), a cool screensaver(lots of movement and cool pics), and 4 backgrounds(2 are the same except with a different background, one with Pikachu, and the other the title with Charmander's evolutions). All in all, this CD is pretty cool... if you like Poke'mon(or cheap CDs)!

3.0 out of 5 stars Yes and no, I guess., March 24, 2000

Okay, I've been really nice with Pokémon CDs so far, since I'm a huge fan, but, although the extended version of the theme song is cool, this CD really doesn't deliver. It's obvious that they've just whacked some pre-made tracks on the CD, slapped a Marill on the cover, and gave it a description implying that it's "Pokémon-- the second season collector's CD". How disappointing. I admit that the feature track is good, and I listen to it all the time, but the other two don't deliver at all. This CD is nothing compared to 2BA Master, and may even be as bad as the pitiful First Movie soundtrack, but this doesn't mean you shouldn't buy it if you're a big fan. Just hope they do better with the Movie 2000 soundtrack.

2.0 out of 5 stars This CD was not as good as I expected., March 2, 2000
This review is from: Pokemon World [ECD] Collector's Edition (Audio CD)
I don't really have much to say about Pokemon World. The CD is okay. The only thing I liked on it was Pokemon World. I didn't like Pikachu's Winter Vacation at all. I would give this CD two stars because of the 2 songs not being very good. Compared to the other two Pokemon soundtracks, it could've done better except for Pokemon World. I definitely think they did a great job on that one. The rest was so-so.
