Book Description

Note from author: Part one ends with a cliffhanger. Recommended for ages eighteen and up due to language and sexual content.

Megan has been offered the opportunity to prove she’s more than a pretty face. Drew Mackenzie is hell bent on ruining that opportunity. He couldn’t be any further from her type, but something about him gets under her skin and stays there. Is it the annoying way he looks at her as if he might kiss her at any moment, or is it that arrogant laugh that irritates her?

One thing is for certain, Drew Mackenzie is the last guy Megan ever expected to fall in love with.

Drew has spent a lifetime avoiding being anything like his womanizing father. Hell, that's why he moved away in the first place, to get out from under the man's control. But Megan stirs an all-consuming desire within him that’s difficult to ignore; the alpha male inside him wants to claim her, take her directly to his bed and unleash years of pent up sexual desire, but if he does, his father more ways than one.

3.0 out of 5 stars Love has no POKER FACE September 12, 2012
By djdavis

I really wish I could give this book 4 stars and I would if it didn't have so many errors so 3 stars it is.

An old rivalry between old friends/old business partners has the potential to ruin lives when the son and stepdaughter of the two men are pawns in a bet that will end in disaster no matter who wins.

I'll make this quick. All the things I loved about this book and hated.

I"m a sucker for a dare or bet or competition of any form. I really enjoyed the steady progression of the story with few flashbacks. The characters and their personalities were a nice balance of feisty, arrogant and just straight up irritating(a-holes) but they played their roles well. I felt as though the descriptive intimate scenes weren't set up to be cheesy or too raunchy, and of course the cliff hanger has me gasping for more.

- From the beginning the bet between these old friend/rivals had the potential to really pull a bunch for the story but it just fizzled out before anything really happened. Maybe I'll have to wait until book 2.

2.0 out of 5 stars Big disappointment November 18, 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
First of all, I hate it when the book summary doesn't make it clear that this is the first novel in a series. After reading the whole book, I don't care enough about these characters to read another.

The characters were all pretty unlikable. Megan is really stuck up at the beginning, though she becomes more personable in the middle and end of the book. Drew is supposedly good friends with her mother and he treats the other guests on the ranch with kindness and respect, but he is arrogant and rude to Megan. Megan's stepfather and Drew's father are major jerks for involving their kids in this awful bet. I don't really understand what Megan's mother sees in her husband.

Finally, the writing in this book wasn't terrible, but it wasn't very good either. It definitely needed an editor for a good grammar check. It seemed like the author sometimes forgot she was writing in the third person, so the adjectives got messed up in sentences like this: "She stood pouring the rest of my milk down the drain."

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed November 5, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The story totally left me hanging and I was teased with the follow up book, but was unable to find it. I wish I would have known it had a sequal that was not out yet. I would have waited to read it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Horribly written December 8, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I did not finish this book. There were too many typos and grammatical errors that made reading the book too distracting. The author should have someone proof the book before releasing it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Ending? February 14, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Huh? You can't leave a reader hanging like that. Seems you get all the drama and all the messy of love in this book. 2 grown men bet against their children to beat each other, but those choices will ruin their chance at the best person for each.

1.0 out of 5 stars Written by a Third Grader? November 21, 2012
By Emersan
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is by far one of the worst written books I have ever read. The author clearly has no command of the English language as she consistently uses words in the wrong context (i.e., residences for residents). She has no idea of when to use a possessive vs. a plural (i.e., shoe's for shoes; ass's for asses). The errors, which are numerous, are very distracting. I got to about 8% on my Kindle before I completely gave up. I am not going to finish this book, as I find the writing extremely annoying! The author should go back to school and take a few English classes, or at the very least, get an editor.

This book is poorly written and has a horrible ending! Book #2 is just as bad. Not worth the money! Choose another book and don't waste your time!

More About the Author

Adriana Law lives in North Carolina with her husband. She doesn't limit her writing to one genre, but believes every story should include love.

Law's first experience with books wasn't until her late thirties when she picked up "Twilight" and committed to reading it. Yes. Twilight. The experiences changed her. The following year she visited her local library weekly coming home with stacks of books that she devoured before it was time to return them. It wasn't long before Law started plotting her own stories. What had quickly become an addiction morphed into a passion, and she started to write. Looking back now, it's easy for Law to see that "it" was always there, the excitement to create and bring to life characters. While perusing a nursing degree many years ago, it was the imposed writing class that caught her interest. Then there was her insane obsession with movies and what made good ones. Now, Law feels very fortunate to have found her true passion and the opportunity to pursue it. She is thankful for the readers who have encouraged and supported her along the way.
