Customer Reviews

It randomly stops working.

Polar makes great gear for monitoring your development, I have the CS600 unit with Heart Rate Monitor and added the cadence sender.
Artful Dodger
Very small design makes it lightweight and not an eyesore on the frame.

I had a lot of trouble getting this thing to work. The sensor I have has to be almost touching the magnetic strip (attached to your crank arm) as it rotates for anything to be picked up. I often get "check cadence sensor" errors on my watch caused because the sensor has moved ever so slightly (I am talking millimetres here) due to a bump in the road. Now, 30 days after purchasing it, I am getting "battery low" errors. It is outside of Amazon's free return policy and I will need to purchase a new sensor when the battery actually dies because it is not user serviceable. I have covered about 400 miles on it. I have the RCX5, the heart rate monitor, the GPS sensor, and the stride sensor (which work well). This very poor execution of a sensor really lets the whole package down.

The battery cannot officially or easily be replaced by the user. There is no indication in my computer unit that the battery is low. This make this product unacceptable to me.

Be Warned! The CS 500 cycling computer will lose connection with the W.I.N.D. Cadence Sensor every time you synch your data. The sensor works perfectly on the bike. It installs easily, pairs well, weighs little, looks fine (not too bulky) But I am frustrated with the computer that I use with it. I know that this review is for the W.I.N.D. Cadence Sensor not the CS 500, but since this sensor only pairs with select Polar head units, I thought it appropriate. Every time I synch my rides with my computer I have to pair my W.I.N.D. Cadence Sensor again before my next ride. Pairing is very simple, but I shouldn't have to do it every time.

I would buy this product again. It does a nice job with accuracy, but be forewarned that the bugs with the CS500 are NOT worked out.

I really didnt think I would use this but was curious to see what my cadence was and how that mapped to my efficiency. I am now really glad I got it. As is train I have found that making a connection between what you feel and what the numbers say is important. If you can make this connection you can systematically push your body to continue to improve rather than just going as hard as you can a blowing up. I would recommend this for a cyclist that is interested in developing an efficient ride.

This is a good sensor. I wish Polar would produce cadence/speed sensor units like the one of Garmin, so you wouldn't have to install and handle two sensors in your bike.

Great product. I've had this item on my other bike for a couple of years now. Battery is still good and no problems with what Houston weather has to offer. Not sure what will happen when battery dies on me though coz it says to send it in. I'll cross the bridge when I get there.

Product works great on multiple bikes once you figure out how to toggle between the two bikes by pushing the lower right button on the CS600 after pushing start - it's not in the instruction manual and can be very frustrating. The POLAR on line community site is very helpful.
