The Polar Body Workout feature provides basic guidance for muscular strength training, with recommendations for strength training movements, count of sets, repetitions, and weights. It can be edited according to your development. The OwnRelax feature helps to track and improve overall well being with a 5-minute relaxation session based on heart rate and heart rate variability.

The OwnCal feature shows your energy expenditure during one exercise session as well as your accumulated kilocalories during several exercise sessions. It also allows you to set daily and weekly exercise goals in terms of calorie expenditure. A very new and innovative concept from Polar - The Polar F55 with Keep U Fit (Cardio Vascular Fitness as found on the Polar F11) and Body Workout (Weights / Resistance workout) programs. The Polar F55 can prescribe a total body fitness program (CV and muscle toning) for the user. Alternatively, if required, just a Cardio Vascular program, or just a Resistance workout program. With the Keep U Fit program the watch may prescribe, for example; 3 x sessions - 1 x long, low-medium intensity, 1 x medium duration, medium intensity, 1 x hard and short. The watch will allow you to select which one of these 3 you perform, or just a free, personally controlled, exercise session. After 3 weeks of following the exercise program the unit will ask you to re-test your Fitness level and then recalculate your next three weeks program. It is an ongoing cycle of exercise, monitor, test, prescribe, exercise, monitor, test prescribe... a great motivator.

The watch is great for monitoring your heart rate and planning a basic cardio work out for you to follow. I was a little disappointed at its weight training capabilities. It only allows you to complete a full weight training workout once a week then your on your own for the rest of the week. Its also a little limited in the exercises you can do and you can't add any of your own into the mix. I also don't know if I'm missing something but I haven't completely figured out how to read the data analysis it does with the software. I think if I could figure out the software or if the software was more friendly I would have given it 5 stars. Overall not a bad choice especially for the cost.

Worth the investment. I use it to monitor various activities from cardio, weight training, tennis, etc. Online tool is very useful in reviewing your settings/results as you can easily download via Infrared.

Several years ago I had purchased a fairly simple (cheap) HRM because I wasn't sure how much I would actually use it. I just replaced the old one with the Polar F55. There are so many more features and they aren't difficult to use. The three things I've found most useful so far are 1) fitness evaluation, 2) workout schedule generated based on my goals, and 3) the ability to track progress on the Polar web site. Lots of other features too, calories burned, graphical display of target zone, etc. The strap is pretty comfortable too.
