• Make sure the user is wetting the electrodes on the back of the strap with water. The electrodes have a rubber coating on them. • Place the transmitter strap on the chest PRIOR to starting the heart rate search on the watch. If the search on the watch is started prior to wearing the chest strap, the watch will fail to pick up the code and not make the connection. • Make sure the user is away from others when starting the heart rate search, i.e. healthclub setting where there may be other Polar users in close proximity. • If this does not help ...Please contact us directly at 800-227-1314, option 5 so we can further assist them with warranty service if necessary.

This is my favorite item in terms of work out gear. I bought this almost a year ago. I never work out without it. I had quit my gym membership and started doing Beachbody programs instead (for me these are more effective, and I am disciplined enough to work out at home at least 5 days a week). I wanted something that would help me evaluate my workouts and keep me motivated.

This thing is very accurate with its calorie burn, which I love. It helps me see if I really brought it that day or if I kind of lagged behind...it helps me compete with myself. I know that with a Turbo Fire workout for example, I should always be at above 600 calorie burn. If I am below that it helps me realize I did not work as hard or maybe I should have had some more food earlier in the day to get me through the workout...

Also it helps me realize when my heart rate is too high and has been for too long. There are times in Insanity or Turbo Fire that I realize I am at my max for much too long, and then I can take a break and not feel guilty/out of shape because I know what my max heart rate is and I know that most people should not go over that for more than a few minutes. I tend to be at my max for the entire workout, but many times I get up into the 200's and I realize it is time to take a break and let it get back into the 190's.

One day I looked at the data files and it was such an amazing feeling to see how many workouts were logged total, how many calories burned, and how many minutes. At the end of this year I am going to look at it all to keep me motivated .

I am a small girl, and many times it was hard for other monitors to pick up on my pulse/ heart rate...I have bad circulation and am about 110 lbs..

I used the Polar F4 HRM for several years and although I believe it was quite accurate, the thing drove me nuts! An accidental bump of the button would stop the watch from recording your data and it didn't have the button lock feature like this does. LOVE the button lock feature! No more accidental shut-offs! Also, LOVE that the FT7 tracks your history and stores multiple records instead of just overwriting your last workout and only storing one record. What a luxury! Oh, also love that this HRM tells you when you're in fat burning versus fitness range and that the summary of the workout shows how long you spent in both ranges.

Now for the cons... Two things I dislike: First, the chest strap. I find it horribly uncomfortable and will probably purchase the T31 strap to replace it. Second, the screen options. The FT4 has a screen that shows where your heart rate is on a scale between your minimum and maximum recommended heart rate AND shows how many calories you've burned thus far. The FT7 doesn't have a screen that combines these things. Though, that's not a big enough issue to dissuade me from using the FT7.

Overall, this HRM is a huge improvement over the F4 and I would buy it again. I loved it so much, I bought one for my husband too. I just wish the chest strap wasn't so terrible!

I am absolutely in love with this HR monitor. It has absolutely changed the way that I work out. Beyond phenomenal. It is so easy to use and the strap is so simple to put on and to wear. I don't even know that it is on my chest. I love the fact that it accurately can figure out my heart rate and can tell me my calories. I also love how there is a nice lock button so that I don't accidentally stop tracking my workout! It can store SO many exercises in there and it is awesome to look at the weekly review or the review from when I first started using the watch.

Just awesome. Seriously. Get this product.

I would never buy this again. It 'worked' for a few months but the numbers were always crazy. Then it just totally stopped working. I had really high hopes in tracking my calorie but an d this turned out to be a waste of money

I bought this heart rate monitor about one year ago. It was working great for a while, but the past 2 months it hasn't correctly read my hearty rate. It either shows that I need to check the transmitter or shows an incorrect heart rate reading.
I had a polar FT4 prior to purchasing this model. That HRM was great and never gave me a problem.

I was looking for a heart rate monitor that would give me a good idea of my effort during exercise and a more accurate calorie count. This watch does this and is very easy to setup and use. The only issue that I had with setup is that the heart rate would not read unless I flipped the transmitter upside down, but once I figured that out, I have had no issues.

I like the fact you can see how much if your burn was in fat calories. But think the calories count is very generous. I have a bodymedia and there is a huge discrepancy between the 2, about 200 calories. So I always average the two. Does anyone feel the same way?

I've had this watch for over a year now and it's amazing. It still works almost perfectly (one of the buttons has started to stick) (i did have to replace the sensor battery about a year in) but they were less than $5 on amazon.

I've tested this thing running in the winter when it's -20 degrees outside, in the snow and sleet, and in the summer when it's 90+ degrees and humid, and in the pouring rain and it never had a problem. I've dropped it and accidentally smashed it against things and there's not a scratch. It's still accurate. I've used it for 5-7 days a week for over a year for at least an hour at a time and it's still going so I'm happy. The strap it comes with will probably fit most unless you have a smaller rib cage area so I'm looking to buy the xs-s size, but they're only $20.

It's definitely given me more motivation during workouts because you can visually see the progress you're making and you can go back and look at where you started. (only thing I wish is that there was a way to upload data online)

All in all if you're looking for a heart rate monitor that's good quality, accurate, and not extensively fancy, this is the way to go!
