The only drawback, and the reason I didn't give this 5 stars, is that you can't leave your camera in the protective case when you use this. That means that your built-in mic gets completely blown out by air noise, where before you may end up with usual nat audio. Also, the camera is exposed to the elements, so this adapter will not work in rain or wet conditions, which mostly likely would be darker outside anyway and you might end up with pictures that are too dark. I have read other reviews where they have said that this attachment gets rid of the "jello" effect, and I haven't had that problem yet, but the increased mass around the lens may be a critical factor in helping to remove these vibrations. In any case, I still think this product is highly useful and should be included in your GoPro kit. Note that you will need the Hero cam "frame" adapter in order for this to work. The normal Hero case now has a flat front that this filter will not fit over. I'd like to see them make a version that will work with Hero 3 and Hero 3+ clear cases. By the way, the case for the Hero 3 is better than the newer and lighter one for the 3+. Go with the older case and you'll have a more durable setup.
ISO limit: 400 (Hero3+/4 only)
Setting ISO limit is key in order to have this work correctly. Otherwise the camera will just gain up to compensate for the lack of light, and give you a noisier image. Plus, shooting in ProTune is always better since you get 45mb/sec instead of 35.
BUT if you're doing aerial footage, with say a DJI Phantom and H3-3D gimbal, this is not the ND to use. It's really too big for the GoPro and adds too much weight that could ruin your gimbal motors as they try to compensate and counter balance the filter. The surface area is WAY to large and causes excessive wind resistance so again putting too much strain on the gimbal.
If you just want an ND for car or bike mounted shots with a suction cup it works great.
The Hero4 is already heavier than the Hero3 that the Zenmuse gimbal is designed for but it manages the weight just fine. Unfortunately, the weight of this filter puts it over the top and the gimbal wouldn't balance. I have seen people having good luck with attaching counter weights (small coins usually) to the gimbal to counter balance and I may try that. I'm just worried about the overall weight for the Zenmuse since it's already pushing it with the Hero4.
Other than that it seems to work fine. It attaches perfectly to the Hero4 and stays put. The overall build quality is a little on the cheap side but I'm assuming that's also for the benefit of saving some weight.
While it's not the best for my Phantom setup, I'll still hang on to it to use when my GoPro isn't on the drone.

Looks solid, but in reality...
1. You will always have dark corners on image (and for my shooting is unacceptable).

Always dark corners in your video. No matter how hard to press this thing on you'll end up with the frame of the lens in the shot. Read morePublished 2 months ago by Jon Hapeman
Good quality but I must say it's not compatible with H4-3D. Way too heavy for the gimbal!Published 4 months ago by Hai Nguyen
Works great for high light situations for aerial photography. Doesn't weigh too much. Thanks!Published 4 months ago by Ian Rugg
Be careful when you put this on/off of your GoPro as the lens has firm grip, it tore off my GoPro lens from it's body.......Published 4 months ago by Heeman Park
Works like a charm to get rid of jello effect on a drone in daylight...Just add some quarters to your gamble to balance it out.Published 7 months ago by Bill Van Arsdale
Works great for lowering the shutter speed in bright daylight thus eliminating the shakes and jello effect on my dji phantom!Published 7 months ago by RJP
