This is a great relaxing and also uplifting CD. I recommend it highly!

I ordered this on DVD because I have had it on a audio tape for a long time. I wanted to be able to continue to play it.

This CD was recommended by a Dutch couple I met when vacationing above the arctic circle in Norway. They were inspired watching the midnight sun and said this music was the perfect accompaniment for the environment. Even though this is a collection of music compiled for an Antarctic fundraiser the music is as compelling for Arctic lights. If you want something more compelling than elevator music for inspiration with nature this will do it.

My mom bought this CD back at our old place when I was 9 years old . I listened to it for years all through childhood and even told stories as theme music with it =) I am now 27 years old and still remember every single song on this album. Polar Shift helped define my musical tastes that I have today. Hope you enjoy it just as I did!

This is a CD full of very soothing and relaxing music. I used to use it when I went to a tanning bed. I would put it in a player then in later years had transferred it to my IPOD, plug in some earphones, close my eyes and relax. I have also used it as music to drift off to sleep by at night. Some songs on the disc are more up tempo than others but, it all flows well from start to finish. No matter what you are doing if you want some background music to relax or sleep or contemplate life or do office work or even read with it turned down low in the background, I think just about anyone will enjoy it. I got turned on to it when I got my very first massage at a gym. The massage therapist had it in a boom box playing low and I liked it so much I had to ask the title. I have since purchased a couple of more copies and gave them as gifts. I gave one to my parents thinking they could use it when they have friends over to play cards since they were fans of having music playing in the background during an evening of card games. I came to Amazon looking for a copy to give to the aesthetic center where I am going for laser hair removal and probably other procedures after hearing other types of soothing music playing in their building on my first visit.

Love the variety of artists. The music is as moving as it is lovely.

The CD was sent expediently and was in the condition I had expected. Service was good and I was pleased with the product.

I bought this CD in 1991. :), and I still have it until today. Very refreshing and relaxing music. The music I can imagine looking very white, beautiful, clean and untouched place, with whales swimming in the horizons. I hope the Artic and Antarctica will be preserved for future generations.

This CD is one of my favorite 'audiophile' CDs which I used to test my audio gears, where the essences of relaxation, enjoyment and imigination always can be find in this CD.

I don't usually listen to "New Age" music, but about ten years ago I was spending the night at a friends house and she put this CD on as we went to sleep. I absolutly fell in love. This album transports you to the windy, snow swept arctic. Visions of black, starry skies and endless polar plains are portrayed in this beautiful music. If you purchase one album for relaxation and inspiration-buy this one. You won't regret it.

Disappointed, I saved my broken "Polar Shift" tape, thinking I might never again hear this enchanting and moving music. It had found it's peace perhaps in "Antartica" if there is a place for broken music. I have never since found an album that moves me like Polar Shift. In 2003 I visited Alaska and since have bought music like "Glacier Bay" and "Pacific Blue" but still think Polar Shift is the most inspiring rendition of the feelings when you fly and walk the Artic deserts or even dream of it, like I did over a lifetime. I am hopeful that some of these wonderful artists will also create an album about Alaska's Artic and especially about ANWAR before the oil industry trespasses its fragile earth. I saw very few animals in Prudhoe Bay among the oil drilling and pipelines, but beyond that, in the Artic circle, saw 17-19 wild musk oxen, an endangered species. There are only 350 of these animals left and most of them are in ANWAR. What a shame we are giving up the remaining 5% of the Alaska coast when the oil industry can drill the other 95% already. ANWAR will only produce oil for 6 months! Read Jared Diamond's books about the end of civilizations like the Anasazi because of their own environmental errors. We may be next. The air in the Artic is like drinking fresh spring water and "Polar Shift" puts you there.
