Product Description

Size: Small | Color: BLACK

Shin Ice is an effective treatment of inflammation and pain associated with stress of the lower leg. Shin Ice was designed to provide therapeutic cold therapy and compression treatment for shin splints, bruises and muscle strains. Made of a neoprene sleeve with Sealed Ice inserts along the front of the lower leg, Shin Sleeve provides both the cold therapy and compression recommended by doctors. It also allows mobility during cold therapy. Place Shin Ice in the freezer; when it is cold, slide it on the leg for 15-20 minutes, 4 to 6 timer per day. Shin Ice is excellent to use with sport activities, including cross-country, track and soccer or with excessive inward or outward rotation of the foot.

I've always wanted to be a runner but whenever I'd give it a try I'd get terrible shin splints. I just started the c25K running program and I must say that this product is invaluable to me. As soon is my run is over I put these on (I purchased 2), stretch and put my feet up. So far no soreness or inflammation. In just a few short weeks I should be able to run a 5k and I don't think I could do it without these!

As a guy who used to syran wrap frozen peas to his shin, this seemed like the perfect device. The neoprene sleeve holding an icepack to my shin was a nice step up. It worked great for about a week, then one of the ice compartments started to leak, then another, then another. After a couple of weeks, only about half the ice compartments had fluid left. Nothing was obviously poking holes in the ice pack, so I can't figure out where the leaks came from. My guess is that an improvement in the plastic quality/thickness for the icepack would solve the problem. Overall a great idea, if only it were more durable.

This product is ok, however there are a few things I didn't like about it:
1. The ice pockets are so small that they warm up easily after being put in the fridge (as suggested by product pamphlet).
2. If you do freeze it to avoid that first problem, the sleeve is very inflexible and consequently incredibly difficult to put on.
3. I felt that it was smaller than listed on the site. I'd go a size up and if it's too big, you can always still use it lying down or duct tape it to fit better. I can't really use mine!

It sure beats the heck out of walking around with ice packs rubber-banded around my lower legs! These were made for a runner like me who tends to get stiffness/inflammation in the lower legs. Because the ice is covered by the wrap, it doesn't go directly to your skin, so it's comfortably cold (I sometimes sleep in them). The compression is firm but not super tight on a person with not huge but larger-than-average women's calves. I just keep them in my freezer and pull them out when I need them.

These Shin Ice sleeves are a great idea, however I think buyers should be aware of a couple of things... Definitely buy a size larger than you think you will need. These are very hard to pull on, especially when frozen. There is much too little "ice" in the sleeves. Not nearly enough to give shins a good icing for 15 minutes. Loses coolness rather quickly.

The ankle opening for a size small is much too small to get over my daughters foot. If you can't slide it over your foot then it is useless. I was trying to replace a full lenghth one that was a wrap with a velcro closure. This one is a sock type. I loved the old one.

I began training for a marathon and my shins decided to give me the ever dreaded shin splints. I was very excited to see they had something out there to help relieve my pain so I quickly ordered Shin Ice and in exactly 6 days it arrived on my doorstep. My calves are just about 14" so I ordered Medium. Shin Ice is best described to be a very tight brace/ leg sock that has a just about a 2" wide pack of water covered with a thin fabric that follows the length of the brace/leg sock in the interior of one side. The directions say you have a choice of refrigerating the brace/leg sock for 3-4 hours or keep it in the freezer for 1-2 hours. (I guess it depends on if you want ice or very cold water to be kept on your shin - whatever you're most comfortable with) I decided to keep it in the freezer and in a couple hours it was ready to go. I reccommend leaving it in the fridge/freezer for longer than they say - It comes out much colder that way. Putting it on is difficult. Like an earlier review said the ankle opening is VERY small - and I got a medium! You have to really tug on it to get it past your heel and up onto your ankle. Once it's on it doesn't move or sag which works great because I can just slip it on after the gym and walk/drive home without worrying about it sliding off. Since I kept it in the freezer the little pack of water felt like little ice packs and kept my calves pretty cold for a good 20 minutes. After that it began feeling a little warm and lost its use. The directions that come with the Shin Ice say you should use it 4x a day for 20 minutes so anything after 20 minutes shouldn't matter anyway. Apparently his little thing is also portable - just pack it in a cooler and it keeps cold until ready to use.Read more ›

I have been suffering from lower leg tendinitis for six months now. I'm a runner and cyclist...so you can imagine how such a thing can really slow me down. I ordered this ice wrap to help with the icing of my lower leg to reduce inflammation. I'm not sure if I got the correct size, as I do have some difficulty getting this wrap on and off. I've used it a hand full of times and the ice gel packs seem to last anywhere from 20 to 30 minutes, which is just right for proper icing. My leg always feels better when I take it off. I'm a little worried the construction won't hold up, so we'll see how long it lasts. The ice gel packs are sewn into the inside lining of the wrap, to focus the icing effect on your shin. I twist it a little bit to focus the icing on my inner leg next to the shin. Other than seeing how long it will last, its done the job I bought it for. Give it a try!
